Including Special Challenge Paths

We should find a way to gracefully include the special challenge paths on this template, since they are, after all, paths. Currently, there's only Bees Hate You, but that will change in about a month, so whatever solution we come up with should be flexible enough to accommodate future challenge paths. --Southwest 19:02, 20 July 2011 (CEST)

• Is this template even in use? It seems the one being used is Template:Ascension_Paths. However, BHY and other challenge paths could be added to that one. --Turing 19:29, 20 July 2011 (CEST)
  • Um, this is the talk page for that template. As for the suggestion, I think we can just go wider until there are more than five or six paths, possibly with color codes to indicate the status of each.     • D'oh. I got confused, what with the different styles at the top of each page. I'll also blame lack of sleep. Anyway, another option for including the paths could be leaving the normal 3, adding an entry for the current special challenge, and one with a link to older challenges. But I don't really see a problem with letting it grow beyond 5 or 6 more paths. The list could be split into rows if needed. --Turing 21:14, 20 July 2011 (CEST)

Here are a couple of versions I whipped up. If people want to copy them and make modifications of their own, I'm totally fine with that. The biggest issue right now, I think, is coming up with an aesthetically pleasant design that makes good use of horizontal space.--Southwest 03:45, 22 July 2011 (CEST)

This one draws on the icon idea proposed above by Shagie, six years ago. It uses the same icons as the Ascension History page for consistency. I envision a four-column box containing the challenge paths, so that one year's worth of paths are contained in a single row. In the long run, this could get costly in terms of vertical space, though, and I would not be averse to modifying it to grow horizontally rather than vertically. It also looks a little bit awkward when a year's set of challenge paths isn't finished, as you can see right now, and it doesn't include the season of each path anywhere. --Southwest 03:45, 22 July 2011 (CEST)

Obviously, the Fall 2011 path is entirely made up, but this is another option, drawing on the style of Template:Stickers. With no images, it's better for fast loading, but it also grows vertically, and faster than the option above. --Southwest 03:45, 22 July 2011 (CEST)
