Template talk:Counter Ak'gyxoth
From A KoL Wiki
Does this really need to exist?--Toffile 00:20, 8 March 2012 (CET)
- Like there is no standard for putting a footer template in shared counters, much less a counter that exists for a grand total of 44 items in the game.--Toffile 01:05, 8 March 2012 (CET)
- Rainbow Pearl jewelry is listed under the maximizing pages (how many necklaces exist again? Just curious), and yet something that's just organizing shared counters into a template "isn't needed" because the item is rare? Ok. Not my wiki. Feel free to delete it if that makes you happy.--Erich 03:24, 8 March 2012 (CET)
- I really don't agree with the Rainbow Jewelry on that list, so I have no idea what you're trying to get at. We don't use templates for shared counters. If you feel that it would be something good to add, go ask about it on Discussion or something.--Toffile 03:55, 8 March 2012 (CET)
- I did. A while ago. Take a look: Discussion#Shared Counters --Erich 04:11, 8 March 2012 (CET)
- So no one cared enough about it, I'm taking it. Sorry.--Toffile 04:12, 8 March 2012 (CET)
- No you're not. But hey, again, not my wiki.--Erich 04:23, 8 March 2012 (CET)
- Ok, screw this. This is a wiki for information purposes. If you don't think it actually makes a difference when discussion is brought up, instead of saying "Hey, no discussion came of this, this must obviously mean no one cares", which surely makes sense to 7 people on this planet, then actually add to the discussion. This is a shared counter. Shared counters should be noted and streamlined. If you disagree, you're wrong. But feel free to show a better way of showing it. Again, this is a wiki, not a "hey, you can get this item, let's show you it's shared counter because it's available" website. --Erich 09:01, 20 March 2012 (CET)
- Uh, it was already noted. For the most part where we have shared counters, we don't use templates, but just notes since the cases where a counter is shared usually doesn't exceed 2 or 3 things. Streamlining doesn't make much sense since the counters kind of come in different flavors...some calculate enchantments, some block item use, some restrict use to once a day, some prevent free runaways. It's not really a game mechanic as it is a developer attempt to block power creep. Or in the few cases where it isn't power creep, it's almost some sort of other extant game mechanic which is usually discussed (most notably the Moons). If you're going to keep on the road of adding these templates that link to a non-existent page, at least try to explain what it is that is being shared also. You just tagged the yellow ray things without mentioning what the counter is, what the counter does, and how all 3 things don't use the counter the same way.--Toffile 14:42, 20 March 2012 (CET)
- I have no opinion on whether these templates or simple notes are better. I do have a problem with the templates as they stand, since: 1 - they give no explanation as to what they're trying to show, 2 - they link to the page Shared Counters which doesn't exist, 3 - they have no usage documentation, 4 - Category:Shared Counter Group Templates doesn't exist. Implementing things half-way here just creates confusion for casual users. --timrem 23:46, 20 March 2012 (CET)
