Notes on conditionals: To determine if a parameter is defined, use #ifeq to compare the values of
- {{{param| }}}
and
- {{{param|u}}}.
Since they have different default values, they'll be unequal if param is defined, and of equal if it is.
Because of the syntax for #ifeq, you have to use | for table pipes inside the expression. --Starwed 09:42, 26 October 2006 (CDT)
- Actually, there's a much easier way - just do {{#if:{{{param|}}}|value if defined|value if not defined}}. --Quietust (t|c) 12:49, 26 October 2006 (CDT)
- Ah, I was confused by meta.wikmedia.org's page on parserfunctions, then, which states that "For compatibility with older templates #if: cannot directly distinguish defined and undefined parameter values, it's a shorthand for a comparison with the empty string." Glad to see there is a less obscure way. :) (Also, the captcha seems to be broken, preventing external links from being posted.) --Starwed 01:56, 27 October 2006 (CDT)
- Technically, their note is correct, but in this case we probably don't need to distinguish between a blank value and an omitted field. If we do need to tell them apart, then the easiest way is to do {{#ifeq:{{{param|undefined}}}|undefined|value if not defined|value if defined}} and just reserve some value for "undefined" (the method you posted originally is effectively the same thing, only it doesn't rely on reserving a value for "undefined"). --Quietust (t|c) 16:58, 6 November 2006 (CST)

So, I placed it on some zones... we have to make the ML row optional. I don't know how to do it. Can anyone please? :) --Guissmo 01:04, 19 November 2006 (CST)
Discussion
Parameters
Starting a brainstorm list of candidates for inclusion. For what it's worth, I think monster level is probably more testable than safe moxie, and provides a better metric for the difficulty of an area. --Starwed 04:20, 17 October 2006 (CDT)
Added two dummy variables to illustrate how a longer iBox will look. --Starwed 02:16, 25 October 2006 (CDT)
Basic stuff which should absolutely be included:
- Name
- Location
- Ratio of combat/noncombat
- Minimum stat to adventure here
Simple stuff which should probably be included:
- Ultra rare adventure
- Clover adventure
Stuff which could possibly be included:
- Safe moxie
- Information on monster level
- When it unlocks
- Info on what types of elemental monsters appear
- Which quests are related to this area
- Outfits or effects which affect adventures here
- Question on ML. Should we use the ML for all common encounters? For example The Spooky Forest has a ML of 5 for all encounters but the Baiowolf. Should we just say 5-5, and leave it at that, or include the possibility of the Baiowolf? I was thinking no, as it's an ultra-rare, but I was hoping to get some consensus.--Toffile 02:15, 19 November 2006 (CST)
- It should be whatever is most useful for players; so ultra-rares should probably be excluded. (Or at most, displayed parenthetically) --Starwed 04:50, 20 November 2006 (CST)
Is there any reason why the area number is not included? (For an effect similar to item or effect pages). It's not the most necessary thing but I do know that at least I would find it useful. --TheDotGamer 07:41, 18 January 2007 (CST)
- Because I didn't even know that areas had a number? ^_^ I certainly don't see any reason not to include it. --Starwed 14:59, 18 January 2007 (CST)
The area number still hasnt been included... Any plans to fix this? Discordance 15:46, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
- Rather a long time ago, I went through and added the number to the Data pages. But I could never find a place to put it in the infobox that looked decent. I'll take another stab at it later, I guess; feel free to make suggestions. --Starwed 05:55, 30 June 2007 (CDT)
Thanks, some other templates on the wiki include categories like template:adventuretop can we add category location to this one too? Discordance 07:30, 30 June 2007 (CDT)
Some changes
I made a few changes to the template, would appreciate some feeback:
- Added a link to edit the data page at the bottom of the box. Is the font too small? Is its position ok?
- Added a field for semi-rare adventures.
- Since there are also fields for badmoon, clover, and ultrarare adventures, reorganized the fields so that all "special adventures" fall into a subsection of the infobox. Does this look ok?
- I still didn't see a place I liked to insert the location number; it doesn't seem important enough to have it's own field, but perhaps others disagree?

Updates
Can someone deprecate the min_stat parameter and change it to be recommended?--Toffile 23:36, 27 January 2013 (CET)
Terrain
OK, I was planning to add the "Terrain" category to this (from the latest IOTM), with indoors, outdoors, underground, and underwater, but then I saw the actual code for this template, and that's way out of my depth.
Can someone who knows what they're doing here add that? --KingBobson (talk) 12:15, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
