Template talk:Itemheader
From A KoL Wiki
If the {{PAGENAME}} special variable is used in the template, it could clean up capitalization - so that Rib of the Bonerdagon won't have a template that reads rib of the bonerdagon (which incidently isn't found when searched for). Thus the template would be <center>[[File:{{{image}}}|{{PAGENAME}}]]<br />[[{{PAGENAME}}]]</center> ; --Shagie 15:14, 26 Sep 2005 (MDT)
- Thw wiki automatically capitalizes the first letter of a page (then the rest of the page name is case sensitive). So if we used {{PAGENAME}} in the item template, many if not most items would not be capitalized correctly (as they are in the kingdom) on their pages. Actually if you search for "rib of the bonerdagon", and press 'search', rib of the Bonerdagon comes up 5 or 6th oddly. The "rib" part being lowercase is how it is in the game, see here. --JRSiebz 17:58, 26 Sep 2005 (MDT)
- Exactly. I did experiment with the {{PAGENAME}} variable, but the results... they weren't good, because hundreds of pages were improperly capitalized. It just doesn't work ideally for our wiki. --Aardvark 03:00, 27 Sep 2005 (MDT)
- Would it be a good idea to rework the page to have proper capitalization? Where it is necessary to massage things to the proper case use redirect pages. --Shagie 14:44, 27 Sep 2005 (MDT)
- Under a normal mediawiki installation, pages are automatically capitalized when created. It IS possible to modify the code to allow both uppercase and lowercase for the first character, but from my observations with wikis that have done this, it can also be highly disruptive to the wiki. I recommend against it STRONGLY. --Aardvark 15:45, 27 Sep 2005 (MDT)
