Template talk:Meat-Producing Items

From A KoL Wiki

Is it even remotely necessary to have on the bottom of each of these items? Maybe a link to a page that shows the differences between them, but this is too large and cumbersome to be on each of these item's pages--Williabr 13:54, 26 December 2007 (CST)

  • it's not necessary, but it's better than a list at the bottom of the page. more succinct, and less hassle to add one. now it's been added as a template, if you can think of a better way of doing it, go ahead. --Evilkolbot 14:01, 26 December 2007 (CST)
    • Coolguy00001 brought this up a while back, and I visually scanned through things instantiating {{meat}} and provided a list here. If w'all're gonna pursue this, surely the black plastic oyster egg should be added, but I'm unsure of how complete y'all want to get (chaos butterfly and one-time quest items?)... Related, what about things that produce items (presumably pages which have the Item category somewhere in their ancestry, that instantiate {{acquire}})? --Bagatelle 15:19, 26 December 2007 (CST)

My point wasn't really about finding a better way to do it. Why find a better way to do something that isn't necessary? The items that are being compared don't need to be compared in such a detailed away on each of the individual items pages. But if you want to be complete, I suppose you should probably add Hell Ramen to the list as well this unsigned comment was added at 20:20 GMT, on 26 December 2007 by Williabr

  • This template does seem a bit unnecessary-- I'd prefer doing it up as a table, a la Muscle Modifiers or Items from Monsters. --TechSmurf 15:55, 26 December 2007 (CST)
  • This template should not exist... unless HP-producing items, muscle producing items, item producing items, etc., etc., etc. all exist, which, IMO, would be extremely unsightly, especially on over-achieving items This probably should be like all the other table/list pages, like at Items (By Meat Drop) or something. Also aren't there some negative meat items? Meat vortex comes to mind, and 668 scrolls can possible give or take meat. --JRSiebz (|§|) 19:47, 26 December 2007 (CST)

I only added it because someone had done a "Similar items" list on several pages for the wallets and purses, and it seemed like that was adding a potential editing nightmare...consider this a way to keep that nightmare from happening.--Foggy 07:05, 28 December 2007 (CST)

I'm currently working on Meat Sources. Pending completion, this template will get axed and we'll use that instead. --TechSmurf 16:55, 3 January 2008 (CST)

  • Now that I actually have the time, Meat Sources is back to life. I'll replace this template with a See Also tonight. --TechSmurf 15:30, 15 February 2008 (CST)

Using {{PAGENAME}} in order to show where to edit the template was incredibly stupid. Since it gets transcluded with the rest of the template, you end up getting something like Template:Fat wallet not a link to this template. Please don't tell me there's more templates like this. -_- --Toffile 16:22, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Orcish meat locker

I'm gonna see if I can add it without taking up to much space. Starguy 17:46, 12 October 2009 (UTC) EDIT: Never mind.

Nest Egg

Is this even remotely necessary? I mean, it's a one time item that a player gets at the beginning of an account...everything else it makes sense to reference because they aren't a truly one time item.--Toffile 04:34, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

  • Not particularly necessary, though it isn't hurting anything right now. The template would be the same size with or without it. --Flargen 06:47, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
