Template talk:SeahorseName
Based on the examples on the wild seahorse talk and history pages, it looks like there is a different list of prefixes for each suffix, not just one list of each. If anyone has superior wiki-fu, this page can be made cooler.--AtGNAT (talk) 15:05, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- Me again. It seems there are actually a few sets of name parts, some of which only have one suffix.--AtGNAT (talk) 15:33, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
I just don't understand this template at all. The names are not "random word from set A + random word from set B". There are specific patterns, like <random fruit>jack which refers to the My Little Pony character Applejack. The template in its current form does not reflect this, and is far LESS informative than the raw alphabetized list of names was. --Greycat (talk) 16:20, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- I would be delighted to make this more accurate/correct. But I'm not at all sure what specific patterns should be used---the 3 listed on the wild seahorse page are a starting point, but are mainly useful just for "<fruit>jack"---for the '<color>pie' suffix we should have only have one prefix (Greenie), but 2 are reported, and for the "<noun> Sparkle" I'm not sure what nouns are allowed or what suffixes are allowed (just Sparkle?). Then there's all the other suffixes. So, for the more pony-aware, what are the specific patterns that encompass all known examples? How about we start filling in the following table. --Fig bucket (talk) 00:39, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- There were 4 template guesses, but someone erased one of them. Also, there's an "Orangie Pie" listed on the talk page. It's going to be extremely difficult to collect names now that someone told people to stop posting the names on the other page. Maybe we should be collecting them on the talk page where people can't arbitrarily stop us? --Greycat (talk) 21:03, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
I've gotten a new suffix that isn't on here, but I don't feel like I know enough to mess with the table. Anyways, my seahorse was named "Sturgeon Sofa".--Septet (talk) 15:48, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
