The Sleeper Has Awakened
You return to the sietch, holding the missing pages aloft triumphantly. Gnasir smiles, returns the pages to the book, and hands it to you. "Good. Now, you must study."
You find a comfortable rock, and start reading. It turns out to not be all that complicated -- you just need some special worm-riding hooks to grab onto the worm's back with, and the worm pretty much does the rest. After you finish the book, you return it to Gnasir. He quizzes you briefly, then nods, satisfied.
"You have earned your hooks, <$playername>." He hands you two long, slender poles with metal hooks on the ends. "Now, you are ready to learn of technique."
"Technique?" you ask, eyeing another gnome who approaches, carrying a large stack of books.
Gnasir nods. "Yes. Anyone who has earned their hooks can ride a worm, but to ride as a true warrior and honor your tribe, you will need to study these further eighteen manuals. Unfortunately, each one of them is missing between twelve and thirty-two pages, and this time we'll need a special glue made from the rare desert slug, to repair the bindings... wait! Where are you going?"
His words fade off into the distance as you stride out of the sietch and back to the desert.
