You're fighting The ghost of Waldo the CarpathianThere's a portrait hanging in the Gallery that you don't remember seeing before. It depicts a stern and glowering hawk-nosed man wearing a steel breastplate. His armor is expensive and regal-looking, with florid engravings and inlays, but covered with dents and scars, and blackened from fire.
Looking past the nobleman, you note that the background of the painting appears to be a blasted and twisted hellscape. Burning skulls are piled high on the rocky ground among staked and crucified bodies, and the sky is black with clouds of smoke, underlit red from the fires.
You hear a noise like someone clearing their throat. Your gaze snaps back to the soldier's face; something is different. His eyes are narrowed, and his lip curls into a snarl.
"It is impolite to stare," he growls, and reaches out an arm to grab you by the throat.
