They've Got Fun and Games
As you approach the great marble temple, you become aware of a faint sound, a sort of hissing, boiling, gurgling kind of noise just on the edge of hearing. It gets louder as you draw closer to the building, and you get the sense that it isn't your ears that hear it. You eye the temple with distaste, and it almost seems like the thin blue veins in the stone are twisting and writhing, though they seem normal enough when you look directly at them. Maybe it's just your imagination. Of course, in your career as an adventurer, not once have you thought 'maybe it's just my imagination' and had that turn out to actually be the case. There's a first time for everything, though.
Two guards stand at the temple entrance, their guardspears crossed to block the door. You step up in front of them, and there's a brief, sharp pain in your forehead. The guards' eyes widen. "The high priest!" one whispers. "The high priest has come!"
"Move it, fools," you growl, and the growl is answered, echoed, by the gurgling sound in the back of your mind. The guards drop their spears and... well, not exactly kneel because they don't have knees as such, but you get my meaning, right?
"Welcome to the Temple, holy one" one murmurs, voice trembling slightly.
"Welcome to the Temple," echoes the other.
"Glad to be here, scum," you reply, and your sneer is practically audible, at least to you.

You step through the temple archway, and hear a clatter of metal behind you. You turn to see the two guards fleeing as fast as their fins can carry them.
