Turnabout Pygmies
Turnabout Pygmies

You peek into a small stone building, and see a pygmy in a spiky headdress poring over a large stack of books. Well, leaves, but they have stuff written on them.

He looks up. "Hello there, I am Ngombo'ga'ryt. In our language, it means "Firebird That Points With Finger". I'm the witch lawyer for our tribe."

"Witch lawyer?"

"Yes, and maybe you can help me. I've got a big case today, defending one of our goats, who has been accused of murder. The prosecuting attorney is my rival and most feared opponent Nged'jii'wort, and my legal assistant has gone missing."

You agree to help out with the trial, and it goes quite well. The goat receives a full acquittal, and you even get to shout "Objection!" once, which is pretty cool.

You gain 20 Chutzpah.

Occurred in The Hidden City (zone).

References

  • The adventure is a reference to the adventure game Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. "My legal assistant has gone missing" is a reference to Maya, who manages to rarely be around for trials due to plot devices, "Nged'jii'wort" is a reference to Phoenix's rival, prosecuting attorney Miles Edgeworth, and the main character of the game, named Phoenix, which is a firebird, has spiky hair and is prone to shouting "Objection!" dramatically and pointing his finger. Also, people other than Phoenix and Edgeworth, such as witnesses and suspects, have a tendency to shout "Objection!" to heighten the drama.
  • The title, Turnabout Pygmies, is a reference to the Japanese title of the Phoenix Wright series, "Gyakuten Saiban", meaning "Turnabout Courtroom". Also, in the American version, each "case" is given a title that involves the word "Turnabout".
  • The part about a goat being accused of murder is possibly a reference to the origins of the term scapegoat, and is also likely a reference to the fact that all of Phoenix Wright's cases involve murder.
