New developments in sword technology tend to be fairly limited. You get a piece of metal, sharpen the edges, stick it on a handle: that's a sword. This one is remarkable because it takes outdated broadsword technology and rotates it 90 degrees in three-dimensional space. Just make sure to hold it the right way, or it will appear to the undiscerning eye that it's just another broadsword.
