You're fighting an UnderstudyWhene'er an actor can't perform his role (or maybe no-one knows where he has gone), the understudy leaps to fill the hole -- because of course the show must still go on. He strives to be the leading player's twin; it's like you get to beat him up again.

"Is this a dagger I see before me?" he says. "The uh, the point going into this person that I'm fighting? Forsooth?" Ow! Ouch! Argh!
"This is what it sounds like when doves cry!" he says, then stabs you while you're standing there wondering what the heck. Ow! Ouch! Ugh!
"Cry havoc! and set free the dogs of war!" he shouts, then stabs you before you can correct him. Ow! Ugh! Argh!
Counting under his breath, he slashes the air with his sword, not coming anywhere close to hitting you. Then he trips, and accidentally impales you. (CRITICAL HIT!)
"Four score and seven years ago," he begins.
"No," you interrupt. "Just stop."
"Neither a lender nor a borrower be," he says, "and don't uh... don't take any wooden nickels. I mean shillings."
You stare at him for a while, and eventually he whispers "Your turn!"
"Cry havoc! and set free the dogs of war!" he shouts.
"Let slip," you correct him.
"What?"
The understudy suddenly freezes up. "...Line?" he says.
"Hit them with your sword!" someone hisses from offstage.
"Oh, right. Ahem. Hit them with your sword!" he yells at you. (FUMBLE!)
