Rayi

This is a user of KOL who briefly tried her hand at editing/updating pages, then got bored with it. She is a Sauceror at heart, and she likes sushi and hot-tubbing anytime, as well as books and movies and useless trivia. Since you're reading this, you are probably useless and/or trivial, so most likely, Rayi rather likes you. Too bad you had to ruin what could have been a pleasant relationship by coming up out of nowhere and attacking her!

You cad!

Hit Message(s)

She starts telling you about her top ten list of favorite books. You are bored to death! Ugh! Ouch!

You laugh your <nipple> off at her extensive array of movie rental store anecdotes. Literally. Ow! Argh!

She resents your good-natured indulgence at her quaint eccentricities and sets her well-trained pet Octopus to brutally teach you the error of your ways. Ooh! Ow! Ow! Argh!

Critical Hit Message

As she goes into detail as to why a particular widely-believed and treasured glurge is completely false, her harsh truths erode the foundation of your childhood. You feel a sudden sense that everything in your life is a cruel lie. Chicken soup can't save you now! Ugh! Argh! Ouch! Oof! Ow!

Miss Message(s)

You fall asleep as she rambles pleasantly about nothing, and wake up some time later, once she's gone hoarse.

She attempts to regain your attention by throwing her pet Octopus at you, but her aim is terrible.

Fumble Message

You point out to her that this page is not entirely in keeping with the KOL Wiki User Standards page and she winces, muttering something about this being a work-in-progress and will improve.

Notes

  • Rayi is likely to specialize in providing References, especially in regards to books and/or movies in the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres, with occasional dabblings into Action/Adventure.
  • As a person who is slightly OCD when it comes to certain common spelling mistakes, Rayi is unlikely to let any "its/it's" or "there, their, they're" mix-ups go unfixed.
  • In most cases, Rayi takes what she does seriously. Unfortunately, she cannot take herself seriously. She apologizes in advance for any outbursts of laughter or expressions of disgust which may result from her attempts at self-parody.
  • The image at the top of this page was made by Rayi for Rayi, and it even has her name on it. Creating it took less than five minutes. She is proud of it. The pie image was not made by Rayi and belongs to KOL. It sure looks tasty though.
  • Rayi would really prefer that you not directly edit this page, but understands if you feel a pressing, urgent need. In that case, she respectfully requests that any such editors leave a note explaining what was changed and their reasons for doing so.
  • She can be most easily contacted on KOL itself via messaging, #1332896.

KOL History

Once upon a time in 2004, Rayi was introduced to Kingdom of Loathing by a friend. She signed up as Rayinte, a Sauceror, and loved the site. She spent hours on the site, getting as far as the Hole in the Sky. Barely. She never got around to getting a Mr. Accessory, but always meant to do so. Alas. Around the time of the Black Sunday, something happened. Her computer would no longer properly access KOL! Being rather technologically clueless, she made several attempts to resolve the issue, and finally gave up, hoping the issue would resolve itself.

The problem in question had something to do with firewalls and frames, if Rayi's memory is reliable. Which it is sometimes not.

She figured, since back then the word was that accounts would be wiped and reset once the Ascension system was finalized, it wouldn't matter if she had to start over at a later date. But then she got distracted and forgot to check back, and eventually forgot how much fun she had. KOL was a fond memory, and it never occurred to her to visit again.

In mid 2007, three years later, Rayi was reminded of KOL. Alas, her original account was long gone. She started over and fell in love all over again. Being a bit more financially secure, she has started collecting Mr. Store items. Loathingland has changed a lot... and mostly for the better. Her only disappointments are that she is essentially a "newbie" all over again, and that so many of her awesome old things are long gone.

After her first run, she did another Softcore run, then a few Soft Teetotaler runs. Then Rayi started Hardcore as a Seal Clubber. She meant to follow that with a Hardcore Oxy Turtle Tamer just for the heck of it, but goofed, ended up doing another soft-SC. She's back to her Mysticality signs for the time being, and sticking with Softcore for now. She tends to have more fun with Mysticality signs anyways, and doesn't mind redoing some of those for the HC-Perm... eventually. Her interest in HC is primarily the prize items anyways, and she isn't especially excited by the Mysticality HC/Oxy prizes. Maybe they'll be challenges for some distant someday.

She likes taking her time with the game, focusing on fun over speed.

References

  • Rayi's pet Octopus potentially indicates a preference for a certain genre of adult-oriented Japanese cartoons, the details of which are likely best left undisclosed.
  • The line "She likes sushi and hot-tubbing anytime" is a quote from the popular movie Shrek.
  • The term "glurge" was coined by a member of Snopes.com's mailing list in 1998; it refers to a type of sickeningly-sugary feel-good story. Such stories are standard fare in the popular series of short story anthologies, Chicken Soup for the Soul, which are sometimes sent about the internet in the form of "This is really true it happened to (someone) for reals!"

Projects

Until I have a better understanding of how editing a Wiki works, I intend to keep my edits limited primarily to adding information and correcting obvious errors. I'm pretty bad at socializing, so I tend to keep a low profile when it comes to areas which involve dealing directly with other players.

As far as KOL itself is concerned ... I hoard and collect things almost obsessively; it took me a while to get around to buying a Collection, and now I generally stuff things into it rather than Autosell... Just because. I'm hoping to get more familiars, because I like familiars. My goal isn't really "all" familiars, but more, "the familiars I could potentially afford someday maybe."

Otherwise, I collect Hippy MPE's (and to a lesser extent, Frat FGF's), and am working on my collection of Frat/Hippy War Medals. I really love the Holy MacGuffin and the Hippy/Frat War quests, there is some effing amazing content in those.
