Rules for Crateful's Revenge!

At the start of the game, there are 52 sealed crates. Each player opens crates, until they [A] decide to end their turn, or [B] happen upon a crate with a monster inside, and their turn gets ended for them.

36 of the crates contain prizes.

Of those, 9 contain Meat, 9 contain items, 9 contain food or booze, and 9 contain roasted marshmallows. The amounts-- and, for items or food, kinds-- vary by crate.

4 of the crates contain useful tools.

The Shield will protect someone from [A] losing everything they've gained this turn, OR [B] having some of their items swapped out by the Trader's Map (keep reading.)

The X-Ray Glass is a special drinking glass that lets the player peek at the contents of up to 5 crates.

The Cap of Intuition will sometimes give the player a good (or bad) vibe before they open a crate, depending on what's in it. It doesn't always work properly, though...

Finally, the Trader's Map will let you swap out one of your four kinds of prizes (Meat, Food/Booze, Items, or Marshmallows) for one of an opponent's four kinds. For example, if you're feeling greedy, you could swap your Items for his Meat... whether this is a good idea is your problem. The Shield can be used to stop the Trader from carrying out his trading-- if so, you'll be able to use the Map again.

4 of the crates contain mystery prizes. You can choose to accept the prize, OR 1000 Meat. What's inside? It's a mystery!

Crates with Mystery Prizes will disappear after the prize inside has been accepted twice.

4 of the crates contain chance games!

In Quickfire Trivia, you have only a short time to answer as many trivia questions as you can. When you've answered-- or passed-- it's on to the next question! The more you answer, the higher the bonus, so get trivia-ing!

Chance Time is the classic. Pick one of three buttons-- one halves what you've earned this turn, but one doubles it! (The third button doesn't do anything, by the way.)

On The Prize is Right, you get 3 tries to guess the value (in Meat) of a few of the unopened crates. Under, and you get some Meat. Close, and you get the crates. Over, you lose the lot!

Finally, in the Fury of the Mallet, you get to pick one of seven segments on a wheel. Then, one of the unopened crates will be smashed, removing it from the game. If you picked well, the crate will be a bad one; if not...

Game crates will vanish after the game inside has been played three times.

And, (deep breath) 4 of the crates contain MONSTERS. These crates will end your turn and/or cause you to lose everything you've collected during your turn... so be careful. The Shield can be used to stop you from losing the items you collected this turn-- whether you use it or not is up to you.

However, the stuff you lose isn't gone... instead, it makes its way over to the Lost Property Pile. Anything ending up in the pile gets shoved into a really deep crate, then pushed back into the line-- and anyone who stumbles on it is in for a nice surprise!

As the number of unopened crates diminishes, Monster crates will gradually make themselves scarce.

...........

Sound complicated? It's not, really... all you have to do is pick a crate, see what's inside, and let the game unfold! Good luck-- and happy crate-busting!
