From A KoL Wiki

This page was created and maintained for many years by Aeshma. I have recently taken over the maintenance of it. It is in the process of being updated, so any suggestions/corrections you have would be greatly appreciated.

Aftercore Goodness

Got extra time to run around after freeing King Ralph? There is a TON of stuff to do, especially for new players! This section will address most of the aftercore activities that you can participate in (Note: for extensive details on each, consult the wiki). This page will be updated somewhat slowly, and is not meant to be exhaustive, but more of a general info page. That being said, always check back for new updates and added content.

Also, if you're going to be in aftercore for a while, on top of getting your liver/stomach/spleen of steel, why not drink a Sloppy Jalopy from the Clan Speakeasy for +1 liver? Its 100k, but depending on what you're doing, it may be worth it.

Aftercore Preparation

  • Borrowed time - If you're going to ascend immediately, use a borrowed time for 20 adventures you won't have to "pay back" the next day, since you'll be ascending!
  • Stock up on food, booze, and spleen items, as well as other ascension-relevant items.
  • Maximize your rollover bonus adventures
  • Use all skills and items that were not usable to you in-run (taco flier, warbank, warbear items, tomes, librams, etc.)
  • Check game grid arcade for defective token
  • Time's arrow, essential tofu, Be more: Adventurous, class chocolates, etc.
  • Use all possible "free" buffs: Clan hall + VIP lounge, Mysterious Island Post-War, etc.
  • Maximize Campground - Clockwork meat maid, Pagoda, cuckoo clock thingy
  • PvP (Note: once out of ronin/HC/etc., many items are susceptible to PvP looting, so consult the wiki for how best to prevent this).
  • Updating/acquiring your Bumcheekcity profile.
  • Check upcoming holidays, stat days, and possible world events.
  • Fax machine and/or copies - Fight monster from the past, or farm monsters no longer available using your clan fax machine, and possibly the Rain-doh black box, Spooky putty sheet, and 4-d cameras. A great way to burn a few extra turns while drunk productively...
  • Wineglass fighting - So, you're about to ascend, but have a few turns leftover from overdrinking... If you have Drunkula's Wineglass, you can equip and fight through the drunkenness! Note: All you can do is attack with your weapon (no spells, items, etc.), so be sure you are ready for that. If you DO NOT have the Wineglass, get one asap.
  • Check out the /trade chat channel - You can find deals here on items to help you out, or maybe sell off some of your own goodies.
  • Set up your Chateau, workshed, and gardens!
  • Keys from the NS door are no longer kept, so replenish your Key Lime pies!

Things to Do in Aftercore

  • Fernswarthy's Basement: Potentially heavy resource use, the main goal is the telescope piece at floor 500. 7 telescope pieces altogether. For each piece you get, you can see one of the 6 tower monsters (the first piece allows you to see the first NS entryway door item you will need). Also gives a nice buff which is extended in duration per telescope piece.
  • Demon Names: 30 of these get you a trophy, and must be done over multiple runs, but is worth doing if you care.
  • Bounty Hunt: Gives a nice +item outfit (w/ tat), a decent familiar, some handy items, and a powerful skill. Time expensive.
  • El Vibrato: Not a huge fan of this, but it does yield a solid familiar (especially w/ the CoT), an outfit, and some other stuff.
  • The Sea: The Sea has been greatly expanded! It is much more time & resource expensive now, but there are 6 new outfits, a new familiar, and a ton of new items, and a new skill. But this is almost a must now if you'd like to get a hold of some of the best equipment in the game. An extra instant karma is now available here. There is a skill that each class can get, numerous consumables, handy items, a trophy (from defeating the trophyfish), familiars and more. A bit of a challenge, but worth it as far as exploring the Kingdom and testing your abilities goes.
  • Dwarven Runes: Yielding only an outfit, this quest, done over 3 ascensions, can be frustrating if done manually (Mafia can do it).
  • Secrets from the Future: You can read up on this quest as part of the 'agua de vida' content section, but it is worth noting as it must be done as all 6 classes, and will fill out a section on the BCC profile you may or may not have.
  • Nemesis Quests: Each class can gain an outfit from this, and it is worth an extra 'Instant Karma' each ascension. There is also a trophy available from doing it in order (SC, TT, PM, S, DB, AT). Additionally, there are trophies for each class that are a bit challenging or time consuming.
  • Level 30 Trophies: Technically part of the Collector's score section, trophies can be easily acquired if you'll be in aftercore a while.
  • Monster Manuel Completion: Nothing major to be gained here except for item drops from certain monsters that can change your avatar, it is a fun way to explore more of the game, and complete more of your BCC profile.
  • UR hunting: Got nothing better to do? Spend a few adventures (UR monsters usually appear within the first 15) in a UR zone.
  • Collector's Score: Not for everyone! Upping your CS (tattoos, trophies, familiars) takes a lot of time, meat, and sanity.
  • Moon Sign Goodness: Grow mushrooms, do the Camp Logging Camp quest, complete the Going Postal gnome quest.
  • Miscellaneous Little Quests: Hippy zone in woods, help the tree on the KG Outskirts, Doc Galaktik's quest, the back alley quest, ..
  • Dungeoneer's Association: Get phat loot for the new familiar and 3 new skillbooks (buyable in the mall too). Stock up on phat loot!
  • White Citadel Quest: With the revamp, this quest now offers new monsters/factoids, and a few new items. Quick and easy.
  • Pretentious Artist: Well, it doesn't get you much, but you can make a bit of meat from him with rat whiskers, and he can get you new tattoos. You can use a psychoanalytic jar on him.
  • Farming: Never a bad idea to stock up or try to make some extra meat or items! Make yourself a list, and spend dozens of adventures farming for meat, (rare) items, ascension items, and so forth. There are many guides and much advice relating to this, so do your research before just wasting time putzing around.

Clan Dungeons

Clan Dungeons are accessible through your Clan Basement. Dungeons are fairly different then your typical KOL experience. They involve team-work, strategy, and a lot of loot. The best way to get involved in a dungeon run is to join an active clan and talk with some of your clannies.

  • Dreadsylvania: The newest dungeon, containing 2 familiars, 8 outfits, 15 skills, numerous tattoos (16?) and several trophies, not to mention a plethora of good items to be had, as well as factoid farming... Pretty lucrative still...
  • Slime Tube: Gain items, familiars, and skills from doing ST runs. A nice source of profit with little expense after initial (prep) costs.
  • Hobopolis: Hobopolis is rich with goodies - Wonderful consumables, powerful gear, a handy familiar, an upgradeable tattoo, and more. Resource and time expensive (especially at first), Hobopolis usually pays for itself relatively quickly.

Additional Content Areas

Many items of the month open up new content areas. Fortunately for you, these content areas are almost always available though usuing a tradable item. Usually these items can be bought fairly cheaply in the mall and will open up the zone for a set amount of turns.

  • Suburbs of dis: A fun bit of sidequesting (if you can stand the rhyming), this area gives you some very fun and helpful items.
  • Gameinform Dungeon: Get numerous pieces (8) for a new tat, and the pieces are pretty good themselves. Best place to powerlevel now!
  • The Worm Wood: (Tiny bottle of absinthe - Green pixie drop): A few handy items, new monsters, buffs, and not-a-pipes live here. Great if you're an old-school horror fan due to the references.
  • Repair the Elves' Generator: (Transporter Transponder - Li'l Xenomorph drop): A must for power-leveling and acquiring some very good food and drinks, as well as a tattoo from moon-reliant powerful gear (you can't keep it though). Some neat items, and a trophy from the Porko game (if you've got the patience). Most items here generate some profit, and the only way to acquire distention pills and synthetic doghair pills, which reduce your fullness and drunkenness by 1 respectively.
  • Journey to the Center of Your Mind: (Astral Mushrooms - Astral badger drop): An outfit, some nice items... too lazy to fill this in :P
  • Down the Rabbit Hole: ("Drink me" potions - Clan Hall VIP Mirror): Some neat gift items, an outfit, and +RO accessory are found here. More notably, the pieces for the 'ittah-bittah hookah' familiar equipment are here, as our the different 'royal cookies', which can be quite handy, the Queen Cookie especially.
  • Llama lama gongs: Get some handy spleen items! A few new mini-zones open up, with new items and new monsters!
  • Agua de Vida Quests: Contains the wumpus outfit, 6 neat pieces of gear, get a trophy, fun stuff!
  • Jars of Psychoses: These are fairly new (at this point) and I haven't looked at them much, but I'm sure the wiki has fairly extensive spading on them. Complete them all for awesome items and such. The Old Man's jar offers an outfit/tattoo. The Jick jar offers a few very killer items.
  • Grimstone Mask: Neat little Fairy Tale side zones. Takes some time and planning, but these zones offer fun new text, new monsters, new items, and some new challenges/leaderboards. 4 new trophies from here, 5 new items (w/ BCC boxes), and some items that are cool, but disappear upon ascending (from odd silver coins). Great for those looking for a bit of a challenge, but not a huge challenge.
  • Tales of Spelunking: This area is still not fully spaded (at this point), but it does offer a new skill, a new outfit (3 pcs., tattoo), 4 new trophies (at this point), and (eventually) a gem that is autosold for 100k meat.
  • Game grid: This little area takes a bit of time and meat, but you can get some great items from it, and unlock a new chat channel (/arcade), as well as leave your initials up for all the world to see!
  • LT&T Telegraph Office: This fun side area is helpful for the AWOL path, has a bunch of nice items and some skills.
  • Snojo: Skills and rare rewards for being #1! Also, HIYA!
  • Witchess Set: Not too much known yet, spading still needed, but get some cool items, have some fun, check back for update.
  • Batfellow Comic: Rare items and a trophy! And you're dark and brooding. I AM BATMAN!

Charter Zones

There are 5 different zones that are part of the Elemental International Airport. Each one was initially released as an Item of the month, however, you can easily buy a one-day pass in the mall to visit any one of these zones. You will likely need to buy many one-day passes to be able to get all of the rare items, outfits, skills and other goodies.

  • Spring Break Beach: Even though this zone is technically available in-run (if you've purchased it), it's mainly for aftercore, due to some of the challenges here. However, it does make using the Geneticist Lab a lot better, since you can get some gene buffs early on. Here are some of the goodies: 1 tattoo, 1 outfit/tattoo, 3 skillbooks, at least 15 recipes (cooking, cocktailcrafting, misc.), a bunch of new items, Manuel factoids, and consumables. I'm wagering there will be a trophy as well, if not more than 1. Speculation on it containing a familiar remains undecided, but looks like probably not.
    • Beach Bucks needed: 41 for consumables, 100 for the one-day pass, 2500 for outfit/tattoo/skill, 15 for spray. You can basically double the consumable costs, since there are recipes to be had.
  • Conspiracy Island: Another great little side area. A jab at the show "Lost", conspiracy island seems to be a bit simpler than Spring Break, but still offers players some great rewards. A new tattoo, 2 new skills, a very nice new +adv/pvp watch, and a really handy shirt. Also has a fun new weapon mechanism (guns and different ammos). This seems to be a profitable side zone.
    • Conspiracy needed: 1839 - 23 for consumables, 1719 for gear/skill/tattoo, 100 for one-day pass.
  • Dinseylandfill: At this point, a very lucrative charter zone for meat-farming. While a lot of the +meat is directed for monsters specifically in those zones (the tourists in Barf Mountain), there is a lot more to be gained. As of Apr. 04, 2015, there are 2 outfits/tattoos, 1 familiar, 3 skills. The FunFunds (zone currency) drop at a particularly low rate/amount.
    • FunFunds needed: 350 - 1 for potion, 4 for consumables, 20 for the one-day pass, 325 for gear/skills/tattoo.
  • That 70s Volcano: Awesome items, skills, tattoo, meatfarming.
    • Total Volcoinos needed: 81 - 1 for potion, 2 for consumables, 3 for one-day pass, 75 for gear/skills/tattoo.
  • The Glaciest: Awesome items, skills, tattoo, trophies, meatfarming?
    • Wal-Mart Gift Certs needed: 1010 - 5 for potion, 30 for consumables, 50 for one-day pass, 935 for gear/skills/tattoo.

Uncle P’s Antiques Content

These items, no longer attainable except through the mall, were awesome little extra content items. Some neat little "items" were available through these, but I cannot recall anything major. However, there is at least one "must have" skill (unaccompanied miner) that comes from these, and a few other things that you may want to consider diving in for. Factoids as well. Consult the wiki, as I won't go into any detail here. PvP

Ever since the revamp, PvP has become a much more involved and interesting thing! Aftercore is a perfect chance to increase some of your "mini competition" scores. PvP swagger offers players some interesting items, a new and fun summonable skill, and the ability to summon some food and drink. There are 2 recipes, 3 new skills (total), a fun chat effect item, and some other goodies. Great for your BCC obsessions and a fun way to putz around with something you may not have done before! Also, in aftercore you can loot some decent items from other players, but watch out! They can loot you too!

PvP has been recently updated with themed seasons, it seems. 1k swagger in Pirate season, for example, gets you a new skill.

Miscellany

So, there are a few small-ish quests you can do to get some fun extra items.

  • Complete the new White Citadel quest to fight a few area-specific enemies, get factoids and items, including a wand of pigification.
  • You can also finish the Baron Rof L'm Fao quest to get yourself a dictionary (21,337 meat), and extra clovers/stats (wiki for full info).
  • You can also check the orchard on the island (if you did that sidequest) every day for some meat, or get stuff from McMillancuddy (if you did that quest).
  • Additionally, here's an extra reminder: Use the fax machine and run PvP fites before jumping the gash! Also, and this is very easy on mafia, make your key lime pies, and get your easter egg balloon!
  • Help Professor What find his t-shirt at the Thinknerd warehouse!
  • Really bored? Kill rats for whiskers to trade in to the Pretentious Artist!
  • Work on the job board! Get some meat, substats, and items. Apparently, if you haven't played in a few days, you get some sort of buff from this.
