Preview Button
- there's a preview button to the right of the save page one. use it. and if you're going to make a bajillion updates to your user page please do it off-line. notepad is a pretty groovy editor. or emacs works too if you're that kind of geek. --Evilkolbot 19:25, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

- there's a recent changes page that people use to review the edits that other users make to the wiki. user page edits are mostly uninteresting; it helps if they are marked as minor (see the checkbox) so that a reviewer can use a setting to make sure they aren't displayed.
- even better than that is not seeing user page changes at all on the recent changes page.
- the least work for you would be not to edit your page section by section, and to use the preview changes button so that each discrete edit only appears once.
- a better way still would be to use a non-browser application to make the changes. notepad, emacs, word, cold fusion, pen and paper, that sort of thing.
- you could, if you're tech-literate, make your own wiki and use that to preview the changes.
- you've made thirty-seven non-minor edits to your user page in four days. non-canonical rule of thumb: if your user page appears more than twice on the recent changes page in twenty-four hours, that's too many.
- also, there's a rule that says that text on talk pages shouldn't be edited if it's not yours or has been answered. this is doubly relevant for talk left by a mod telling you to do something. if i didn't ban you immediately it's because i know you're no jerk.
- also also, sign your talk with two hyphens and four tildes (--~~~~) like this: --Evilkolbot 20:01, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- Seems pretty reasonable, perhaps a little aggressive without having a proper introduction --Fxer 20:05, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- sorry if i seemed rude. you're no newbie, though, and should know this stuff. --Evilkolbot 20:10, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well actually the recent changes thing for a user page I never even thought of, would be nice if there was a way to keep user pages from appearing in that area at all. A user preference or a NOTOC type tag for it or something, can't find anything like it on google --Fxer 20:15, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
