As you're trudging up Neckback Crick, you notice eight tiny ripples spreading out in front of you -- the telltale sign of a water spider.
These fiendish creatures lurk just below the surface, their weight supported inversely by... I dunno, surface-to-air tension? I'm not an entomologist.
Hit Message(s):
You manage to avoid its dripping (wait, how are they dripping?) mandibles, but it batters you with eight tiny legs. Then deep-fries you. Ow! Eek! (hot damage)
It leaps even further beneath the surface and bites the bottom of your left big toe. Ouch! Ow!
You trip and fall facefirst in the water. The spider catches you. With its pointy, venemous mandibles. Eek! Argh!
It skitters underneath you and bites the underside of your calf. Moo. I mean... Ow. Ooh! Oof!
It tries to bite you, but misjudges your position due to the difference in refractive index between the water and the air. Nerd.
It skitters toward you, but you hop atop a rock, doc.
It leaps downward just as you leap upward. The vectors all add up to zero.
