- "White lightning" is a slang term for moonshine, derived from the fact that some low-quality moonshine can be contaminated with methanol, which the liver breaks down into formic acid and formaldehyde, causing potentially permanent blindness (being "struck blind"). This is also reflected by the Temporary Blindness acquired from consuming this item.
