- Reportedly, The Powers That Be originally drew a sun that was even easier to mistake for a Black Sun (no white space in the middle), having, it must be emphasized, never seen or heard of the symbol. When the player devs pointed out the unfortunate association, the art was changed. But after players solved the puzzle and remarked, unprompted, that it looked like a Black Sun, the decision was made to change it further.
