X-37 gun
This is a ridiculously complex piece of futuristic weaponry. It's covered in buttons, switches, toggles, and even a few zippers. You're not even sure you're pointing it the right way, but that's a mistake you're only likely to make once.

You pull one of the triggers on the X-37. It peppers <it> with a hail of bullets, doing X damage. ZOT! BARF! ZOT!
You pull a trigger on the X-37. A gun-to-monster missile streaks through <it> for X damage. KERBLAM! POW! BIFF!
You flip the orange toggle on the X-37. A gout of flame engulfs <it> for X damage BOINK! BARF! BAM!
You turn the black dial on the X-37. It projects a terrifying holographic image at <it> for X damage BARF! KERBLAM! SOCKO!
You push the green button on the X-37. A cloud of foul-smelling gas comes out of the gun, enveloping <it> for X damage (sure, blame the gun). ZAP! SPLAT! ZAP!
You flip the blue switch on the X-37. A blast of liquid nitrogen freezes <it> for X damage POW! SPLAT! WHAMMO!
You push the purple button on the X-37. A riding crop emerges and spanks <it> for X damage BARF! WHAM! BARF!
Notes
- Element is chosen randomly for each attack, independently of a monster's weaknesses/immunities (so it can deal 1 damage).
- This weapon breaks on 2% of attacks with the following message:
- You push the blinking red button on the bottom of the X-37. It explodes, taking a decent chunk of you with it.
You lose 20−40 hit points.
References
- The weapon is a clear reference to the ZF-1 from the film The Fifth Element, which could fire bullets, missiles, arrows, freezing gas, a jet of flame, a net... and had a small red self-destruct button as a built-in booby-trap.
