This item was used to store a [[Pasta Guardian]] without breaking connection with it and switch between two Pasta Guardians, prior to the Pastamancer remake on November 14, 2013. Previously, it had the following use messages:

* Use (''empty, no pasta guardian''):
*:  You concentrate momentarily, focusing on the link between you and your companion spirit. Nothing happens, probably because you aren't currently linked to any companion spirits. This is a little embarrassing, and you hope nobody you know saw you.

* Use (''empty, with pasta guardian''):
*: You concentrate momentarily, focusing on the link between you and <name>. You feel an odd sensation, like a little mental *pop!* as you feel the connection between the two of you break, and the <entity> appears inside the spirit orb and looks around in confusion.

* Use (''full, no other pasta guardian''):
*: Concentrating on the spirit orb, you shout "<name>! I choose you!" The image of the <entity> vanishes from the crystal sphere, and you feel the link between the two of you re-establish itself.

* Use (''full, with another pasta guardian''):
*: Concentrating on the spirit orb, you shout "<name1> I choose you!" The image of the <entity1> vanishes from the crystal sphere, and you feel a brief mental struggle as <name1> re-establishes its link to you and <name2> is displaced into the crystal sphere. Looking into the orb, you see the image of the <entity2> looking around confused.

* Look (''empty''):
*: You peer into the crystal orb, but don't see anything unusual in there.

* Look (''full''):
*: You peer into the crystal orb, and can just make out the hazy outline of <name>, your <entity>.
