IstariAsuka's data on S/Q looks pretty good. We should probably use it.

I'm not sure I understand the example properly. Since the range is less than seven, no lopping occurs in either case.

  • size 1, quality 4
    • min = 1, max = 4
      • 1 to 4 assuming a uniform distribution yields an average of 2.5.
  • size 1, quality 3.4
    • min = 1, max = 3.4
      • 1 to 3 assuming a uniform distribution, and then a uniform 0.4 chance of adding 1, yields an average of 2 + 0.4 = 2.4.

If I've done my math correctly, the min and max cases of both foods are the same. The average for the 3.4 is actually worse. --Bagatelle 20:05, 13 May 2007 (CDT)

Ack, you're right. Should have been 3.6 quality. (2.6 avg vs. 2.5)--Starwed 20:20, 13 May 2007 (CDT)
  • oh, so that's why. i didn't get any of this from the page itself. it's not obvious there (and counter-intuitive) why 3.6 is better than 4, perhaps you could incorporate the above. --Evilkolbot 01:50, 14 May 2007 (CDT)

Put it in the Wiki?

Should we mention the size and quality of food items on their Wiki pages? If so, where?--Larryboy 01:11, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

  • The first step to putting size and quality information on the wiki would be to spade the size and quality of various foods. Are the numbers you put up backed by data, or just random guesses? If they are random guesses, please move that information to the talk pages.-QuantumNightmare 20:25, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
    • Well, I've mostly just been looking at the current spaded information, and putting the range of possible Qualities that would make the food fit the Size and Quality rules. Should I stop?--Larryboy 00:44, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
      • Yeah, you should. At least until we can figure out a better way to include it on the item pages. --TechSmurf 02:05, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
        • Okay, I'll just save them on an Excel document. Once I'm able to add them here in some way, I will.--Larryboy 13:30, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
          • Sounds good. The best way to get something going would be the Discussion page. --TechSmurf 18:31, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
            • Okay, I'm told that the adventure range cropping formula has been discovered, but I can't find it. Anyone know where it is?--Larryboy 20:39, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Quality Ranges

Here's the possible qualities for many food/booze items:
