• October 2005's item of the month from Mr. Store.
• Changes into almost any familiar, not just the ones you own. It will not change into the Comma Chameleon, Mad Hatrack, Disembodied Hand, El Vibrato Megadrone, Reassembled Blackbird or into itself. As of April 2010, it can change into any of the April Fools Familiars.
• Due to White Wednesday, the Doppelshifter was in Mr. Store for over a month (closer to 40 days), making it the longest-running Mr. Store familiar as of September 2007.
• The Doppelshifter is sometimes a familiar of choice for PvPers as its +15 equipment can be advantageous in the "Familiar Weight" minigame. The tiny costume wardrobe raises its weight by +25, making this even more advantageous.
• Does give extra adventures when transformed into the Temporal Riftlet.
• Also does sometimes buff you when transformed into the Sweet Nutcracker.
• It can also give extra adventures as the Wild Hare.
• Can give toast when transformed into the Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot.
• Can give an astral mushroom when transformed into the Astral Badger.
• Can give disintegrating sheet music when transformed into the Ancient Yuletide Troll.
• If you give your Spirit Hobo booze and then use your Doppelshifter and it shifts into a hobo, it will attack and "use up" some of the Hobo's booze supply. This is also the same with the Gluttonous Green Ghost and Slimeling if you have one.
• Can give Goodfella contracts when transformed into a Penguin Goodfella and will react appropriately when one is used.
• Can give tiny bottles of absinthe when transformed into a Green Pixie.
• Can give llama lama gongs when transformed into a Llama Lama.
• Can give agua de vida when transformed into a Baby Sandworm.
• Does not increse Monster Level when transformed into a Purse Rat
• Currently will not transform into familiars 134 onwards (see Familiars by number).

• The name also appears to be a play on the phrase "Doppler shift", another way of describing the Doppler effect.
