• "Don't forget DL-6" is a reference to the Nintendo DS game Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Specifically, a part where the player must cross-examine a parrot to get the bird to say "Don't forget DL-6". Yep.
• The haiku about the technicolor dreamcoat refers to the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which, in turn, is a reference to the Biblical story about Joseph and his coat of many colors.
• The message where the parrot reports Timmy having fallen down a well is a constant joke made referencing Lassie.
• The message about "Pieces of eight" is a reference to Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson when Captain Flint, Long John Silver's parrot, screams, "Pieces of eight."
