References

  • The Grinning Turtle (and its haiku) may be references to the Beauty and the Beast Squad in the video game Metal Gear Solid 4. All four members of the squad (Laughing Octopus, Raging Raven, Crying Wolf, and Screaming Mantis) suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and have a two part name: a first name consisting of an emotion followed by -ing, and a type of animal as their last name.
