Knob Goblin King You're fighting The Knob Goblin King

This is the King of the Knob Goblins. All Knob Goblins everywhere bow to his rule! Which would be impressive, if there were Knob Goblins anywhere except Cobb's Knob.

Hit Message(s):

He smacks you square in the <skull> with his sceptre. Ow! Oof! Ooh! Ooh!

He throws his crown like a boomerang. It makes a satisfying ringing sound as it bounces off your <skull>. Ugh! Ooh! Argh! Eek!

He tosses three glass balls at you, hitting you in three different painful locations. Ow! Ugh! Ooh! Ow!

He turns into an owl and claws you in the <skull> with his talons. Oof! Eek! Argh! Eek!

Critical Hit Message:

He produces a glass ball, throws it in the air, and uses his sceptre like a bat to smack it toward you. It strikes you solidly in the <skull>. Too bad he didn't strike out with his swing. Eek! Eek! Oof! Eek!

Miss Message(s):

He swings his sceptre at you, but you dodge, leaving the sceptre merely a spectre of a threat. Re.

He throws his crown at you, but you catch it and wing it right back.

He tosses three glass balls at you, but none of them hit you.

He turns into an owl, but instead of attacking you, he delivers you some mail.

Fumble Message:

He juggles his three glass balls in front of you. Before he can throw them, though, his robe opens and reveals another knob goblin sticking his arm out of the robe's sleeve and doing the actual juggling. The king is too embarrased to attack. (FUMBLE!)

References

  • The attack where he throws his crown at you could be a reference to a similar attack used by King K. Rool, the final boss in Donkey Kong Country and the final boss in Donkey Kong Land.
  • The attack where the Goblin King turns into an owl is a reference to the movie Labyrinth (1986), where the goblin king Jareth (played by David Bowie) appears in owl form. The reference to an owl delivering mail is a reference to the Harry Potter series of novels and movies by J.K. Rowling.
  • The glass ball attack is yet another nod to the movie Labyrinth (1986), in which the goblin king Jareth (David Bowie) appears to manipulate glass spheres.
  • The fumble message references the fact that David Bowie did not do his own Contact Juggling in Labyrinth. A professional juggler and Labyrinth choreographer, Michael Moschen was an 'arm double' for the juggling scenes doing many of the scenes without being able to see his hands as he was hiding from the camera behind Bowie.
