This page needs to be cleaned up.

Could be split into different pages. Some sections need more work. 'Account Menu Functions' is available for future expansion/differentiation, if necessary.

Chat Options

Manage your contact/ignore lists

This section of your account menu allows you to view everyone that you have on your /friend and /baleet lists. Your contacts are listed first, in alphabetical order, followed by an alphabetical list of everyone you're currently ignoring. At the bottom of each section you can add a player to one list or the other, and with each person on either list you can view their profile, send them a KMail or remove them from the list.

Turn on clan member login notification

This option allows you to toggle whether you are informed when members of your clan log on or log off from KoL. This means that members of your clan don't have to be on your contact list in order to be notified of when they log on or off.

Change your name capitalization

This is just so you can go from being boring old "Properly Capitalised Player" to the new and exciting "ProPERLy cAPiTALiSEd PlAyEr".

Manage chat colors

This option allows you to set the colour of chat channel names, among other things. Those other things being your name, your contacts, and other people in general. It makes it easier to distinguish between channels that you're listening to without actually reading anything.

Manage your chat macros

This option allows you to manage up to twenty different (or the same, I guess) macros. Macros are ways to input entire sentences or simple chat commands (like /msg, /whois, etc.) by just pressing a few buttons (just like speed-dial).

Suppose you wanted to say "I love KOL" over and over again but you didn't want to copy the word and you don't want to type it out. You just go to the screen which allows you to edit your macros. Let’s say you use macro #1. You would input 'I Love KOL' into the box for #1 and click save. Then during chat, you would just have to type /1 in the text box. That would output the text "I Love KOL" for everyone in your current chat channel to see.

Text can also be input after the macro command. For example: '/1 and you too.' would output "I love KOL and you too." To see more about chat commands go to the chat section.

Turn on/off profanity filter

If your profanity filter is on, you won't see any profanity in chat and private messages. Instead, the offending word will be replaced with some &@%!#$* !@#$ or another. Prior to December 23, 2004, entire messages would be replaced by the simple word [profanity].

If the profanity filter is off, you'll be able to see naughty chat messages in all their damn glory. You have been warned.

Show tag in current channel

This allows you to force [channel] tags to appear for the channel you're in. Before this option was implemented on April 24, 2006, [channel] tags would only appear for the channels you were listening to (but not for the channel you were in).

Interface Options

Enable Right Click Menu In Chat

This option enables you to use a custom menu when you right click on a person's name in chat. The following options can be displayed:

Disable/Enable auto-attack

With auto-attack disabled, you'll be able to choose what your opening attack is if you win initiative - attacking with your weapon, using a skill or combat item. If this option is enabled, you'll simply automatically attack with your weapon.

Toggle progress bars on left pane

This will allow you to choose which, if any, of the following progress bars are displayed on your character pane: progress towards your next level, progress to your next Muscle, Mysticality or Moxie point, and progress towards your current familiar's next pound.

Switch to compact mode/Switch back to full mode

These options determine how you view the Kingdom. It's easier to view them in-game than it is to explain them.

Full mode shows mostly everything. For instance, all the main areas are text links in the top pane, you can view your character's avatar in the character pane, and HP, MP and adventures are clearly labelled.

Compact mode is generally for those more experienced with the game, and shows nearly everything in as small a space as possible. Links to main areas are contained within a drop-down list in the top pane, your character's avatar is hidden, and HP, MP and adventures are squeezed into a smaller space. Note - This will save some loading time, help to conserve bandwidth, and help to correct visibility problems associated with low resolution.

Switch to Compact/Detailed Autosale Mode

This option allows you to significantly simplify the format of the autosell page. All the items in your inventory that can be autosold are displayed in a list, through which you can scroll and select items. Hint - To select multiple items at one time, press and hold down the Ctrl button and click on the different items.

Change your time zone

As the name implies, this option lets you change your time zone in relation to GMT, which will display things such as event notification and sent or received KMail relative to your time.

Profile Options

Manage/view your tattoos

This section allows you to select which tattoo you'll be displaying to the Kingdom when someone views your profile. They're listed in alphabetical order of the image files, which keeps all the softcore ascension, hardcore ascension, class-related and Cola Wars tattoos together, while the others will seem more or less just tossed in there.

Additionally, if you are missing an ascension-related tattoo, this page will attempt to replace it.

Manage Avatars

This section allows you to choose which avatar you wish to display in your public profile. It only becomes available upon the acquisition of a Custom Avatar.

Edit your Player Profile

This allows you to change the little section of personal information in your public profile - age, actual gender (as opposed to in-game gender), location, website and quote. If any of this isn't filled out, it won't appear in your profile.

Hide your familiars/Stop hiding your familiars

If your familiars are shy, or if you participate in PvP, or if you're just feeling ornery, you can choose to hide the contents of your terrarium. Or, if the truth is actually the opposite of what was just said above, you can choose to allow everyone to look at your familiars.

Miscellaneous Options

Change your password

A standard password-changing option and format, you can change your password. Just supply your old password, then the new password, and then confirm the new password.

Change your e-mail address

A standard e-mail-changing option and format (maybe even more standard than the password changing option). Using this function, you can change the email address you have associated with KoL. Your old email address is displayed and you just have to supply your new password, then click 'Change E-Mail'.

Note: You do not have to have access to your old email address to change the email address associated with your account.

Ascension options

If you've ascended, and have chosen to do either or both of a hardcore or pathed ascension, you have the option to quit either or both of those here.

Return to normal mode

This will let you opt out of hardcore and return to a normal (a.k.a. softcore) ascension. Please note that the ronin counter still counts down even if you play hardcore, and you may find yourself in ronin if you exit hardcore before the counter reaches zero.

Leave the path

This lets you opt out of the teetotaler, boozetafarian or oxygenarian paths, and return to eating food and drinking booze whenever you feel like it.

Other

(not actually a separate category)

  • At the bottom of the page, the message "This account will not be deleted from inactivity." or "This account will be deleted after 60 days of inactivity." may be displayed, depending on whether your account was in possession of a Mr. Store item, familiar, or skill at Rollover.
