"Make me a sandwich!" Boris would say, and somebody would do it. These days, though, you catch more flies with honey than you do with bulging biceps and threats of violence, so you'd better be polite about it.

| You take a deep breath and try to bellow like Boris. "Hey! If you're not too busy or anything, I'd really appreciate a sandwich!" you shout. A man wanders by and glares at you. "You forgot the magic word," he says, not breaking stride.
You take a deep breath and prepare for a Boris-style bellow. Then you remember your manners and shout, "If it's not too much trouble, I'd really like a sandwich right now! Please!" To your surprise, it works! Someone wanders by slowly and hands you a sandwich, grumbling, "well, since you asked nicely . . ."
