This is a sword whose blade was forged from the crystalline essence of time. The way it works is sort of interesting. It's not at all sharp, but touching a monster with it sends them forward in time to a point where they get cut by somebody else, then immediately brings them back.
As with all time travel issues, the most difficult part to deal with is the grammar.

References
- The "grammar" comment in the description is a reference to Douglas Adams's The Restaurant at the End of the Universe - "The major problem is quite simply one of grammar, and the main work to consult in this matter is Dr Dan Streetmentioner's Time Traveller's Handbook of 1001 Tense Formations. ... Most readers get as far as the Future Semi-Conditionally Modified Subinverted Plagal Past Subjunctive Intentional before giving up: and in fact in later editions of the book all the pages beyond this point have been left blank to save on printing costs."
