• It is alleged that The Mafia uses "cement shoes" in a form of execution by drowning. Given the amount of time it takes for cement to dry, though, it is unlikely this has ever happened outside of threats or Hollywood movies.
• The phrase 'sleeping with the fishes' was used in the film The Godfather. After a goon of the Corleone family was killed, his bulletproof vest was sent back to the family, wrapped in newspaper, and bearing a few fish, leaving the implied message of "Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes."
