This is a conical hat. If it had the word "dunce" written on it, you might call it a dunce cap. Actually, you might call it that even though it doesn't, because you don't seem to care much whether you call things by their right names or not.

Type: hat
Power: 85
Moxie Required: 27
Outfit: Yendorian Finery
Selling Price: 95 Meat.

References

The dunce cap refers to the object of the same name in the computer game NetHack. There are two helmets represented by a blue [, namely the dunce cap and the cornuthaum. Each helmet is described as a "conical hat" until positively identified, making it difficult to judge which item you really have. The cornuthaum is a very useful item for wizards, whereas dunce caps will lower stats and become cursed when worn.
