Revision as of 22:26, 22 January 2013 by imported>Cool12309 (Notes: I'll have to test this, but according to the talk page, there's no incremental change after 60 pounds. It just goes by all 5.)

Combat Messages
  • The parrot will sometimes repeat the last thing you said in chat as its combat text.
  • Without being in chat:
<name> squawks, "Awwrrk! Timmy's fallen down the well! *whistle*"
<name> squawks, "Awwrrk! Your actions are morally reprehensible. *whistle*"
    <name> squawks, "Awwrrk! Don't forget DL-6! *whistle*"
<name> sits on your shoulder, preening and otherwise unaware of what you're doing.
  • Enthroned in the Crown of Thrones:
<name> becomes a blur of feathers, beak, and claws as it attacks her for 19 damage. Man, what a parrot trooper.
  • With lucky Tam O'Shanter equipped:
<name> winks at you and squawks "Pieces of eight! Awwrk!"
  • With miniature gravy-covered maypole equipped:
<name> flaps around the maypole once, and then perches on top of it and preens for a bit.
  • With wax lips equipped:
<name> tries to whistle at you, but the wax lips make it rather difficult.

Arena Messages

  • When entered in a game of Hide and Seek:
<name> is far too brightly-colored to be an effective hider.

Notes

  • Attempting to name the parrot "Polly" will result in it being named "Unoriginality." However, naming it "Polly" at Manage Familiar Names will not trigger the renaming of "Unoriginality."
  • At 5 lbs (or more) the parrot meets The L33t Tr4pz0r's requirement for cold resistance.
  • Before May 1, 2012, the Exotic Parrot was commonly a familiar of choice for PvPers as its +15 equipment was advantageous in the "Familiar Weight" minigame.
  • Due to its ability to provide elemental resistance without using an equipment slot, the Parrot proves useful in Fernswarthy's Basement.
  • The Exotic Parrot provides elemental resistance based on weight according to the following table:

References

  • "Don't forget DL-6" is a reference to the Nintendo DS game Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney in which the player must cross-examine a parrot in an attempt to get the bird to say, "Don't forget DL-6."
  • The haiku about the technicolor dreamcoat refers to the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which, in turn, is a reference to the Biblical story about Joseph and his coat of many colors.
  • The message where the parrot reports Timmy having fallen down a well is a common joke made referencing Lassie.
  • The message about "pieces of eight" is a reference to Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, in which Captain Flint, Long John Silver's parrot, screams, "Pieces of eight."
