One Nightstand (Ornate)
In the Haunted Bedroom, you encounter an ornately carved nightstand.
What would you like to do with it?
Open the top drawer |
In the top drawer of the nightstand, you find a stack of Meat. It's always weird to see old Meat, because it's a different color than new Meat, but, y'know, it spends just as well, so you're not complaining.
![]() | You gain 400−600 Meat. |
You find some Meat in the top drawer of the dresser and joy fills your heart.
Joy at the prospect of helping the needy!
Which you do, by giving them the Meat you just found.
Open the bottom drawer |
In the bottom drawer of this nightstand you find a hardcover book -- one of those long, dry fantasy novels. Y'know, the kind that read like a cross between a fairy tale, a history book, and the Bible?
You flip through it, absorbing some of the knowledge, but unable to resist skipping the boring parts (and the ten-page songs.)
You gain 50-250 Mysteriousness. |
Look behind the nightstand |
- Before finding spectacles:
- You look behind the nightstand, and find an old pair of glasses. They must've fallen back there and gotten lost.
![]() | You acquire an item: Lord Spookyraven's spectacles |
- After finding spectacles:
- There's nothing else back there -- you have thoroughly looted the booty the backside of this nightstand has to offer.
Occurs at The Haunted Bedroom.
Notes
- Lord Spookyraven's spectacles are a one time drop.
- The actual stats gained from opening the bottom drawer will be equal to your unbuffed mainstat plus one, minus 0 to 6.
References
- The message about the old meat being different in color from the new meat may be a reference to the redesigned United States $10, $20, and $50 bank notes, which are different in color from the original notes. It may also be a play on the fact that meat (with a lower-case m) changes color when exposed to air while uncooked and when it decomposes.
- The fantasy novel in the bottom drawer could be almost anything, if it wasn't for the note about "ten-page songs" which clearly makes it be The Lord of the Rings.
- The title of this adventure is a pun on the phrase "one-night stand"
- The booty (in the third choice, after getting the spectacles) is a play on the backside of the night stand. Booty is typically the backside of a person.
