rock snake You're fighting a rock snake

Abruptly, the ground beneath your feet begins to shake. You look around for a desk to climb under, but before you can find one a strange three-foot-long snake-like creature, made entirely of rocks, erupts into view.

You briefly entertain the possibility of making friends with it, but you've been playing this game long enough to know that that isn't gonna happen. You ready your weapon.

Hit Message(s):

It chomps on your <thigh> with its rocky little mouth. Oof! Ow!

It slaps you with its rocky tail. The horror! Ow! Ooh!

Critical Hit Message:

It headbutts you with such force that you're knocked silly, unable to tell your <thigh> from your <thigh>. Eek! Oof!

Miss Message(s):

It tries to slap you with its rocky tail, but you rolly out of the way.

It tries to chomp on you with its rocky mouth, but gets distracted by a nearby flying squirrel.

Fumble Message:

It tries to headbutt you, but ends up collapsing in a very poorly-timed rockslide. (FUMBLE!)

After Combat
You acquire an item: floaty sand (15.5% chance)*
You gain 3 <substat>.

Notes

  • It can still be encountered when falling down drunk.
  • Cannot be tracked by odor extractor or Transcendent Olfaction.
  • Spooky Putty sheet can be used to clone it.
  • This adventure can override both clover adventures and Semi-Rare Adventures.
  • Occurs anywhere through adventure.php
  • Does not occur in the Noob Cave.
  • You cannot skip over the rock snake adventure -- if you use up more than one adventure at a time to skip over it (with the Shore, or spending adventures napping, etc.), it will just appear on your next open adventure.

References

  • "The horror!" of being slapped with a rocky tail refers to the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
  • The "nearby flying squirrel" is Rocky, of Rocky and Bullwinkle fame.
  • The "rolly" miss message is play on "rock and roll".
  • The headbutt and rockslide fumble message may well be a reference to Pokemon, as they are both moves in that game, and in particular rockslide is a trademark of Onix, a pokemon this monster strongly resembles.
