• "White lightning" is a slang term for moonshine, derived from the fact that some low-quality moonshine can be contaminated with methanol, which the liver breaks down into formic acid and formaldehyde, causing potentially permanent blindness (being "struck blind"). This is also reflected by the Temporary Blindness acquired from consuming this item.
• "White Lightning" is also a brand of cheap booze available in the UK White Lighting (Cider). It is cheap and readily available (formerly in 3 litre bottles, now only in 2 litre bottles) and generally considered only slightly above drinking diluted industrial alcohol.
