You knock in all of the solid balls, but miss your first shot at the 8-ball. The ghost then takes his turn, and knocks in all but one of the stripes.
You survey the table and groan -- you're in a tough position. You need to go for the 8, but the position of his last remaining ball makes it pretty likely that you'll scratch if you do.
What's it gonna be?
Go for the 8-ball |
- With Chalky Hand:
- You go for the 8. The cue ball connects, but sends it off at just the wrong angle to sink. Luckily, the cue ball manages to stay afloat, as well.
- The ghost takes his turn, easily sinks his last ball, and just as easily makes the 8-ball in the side pocket.
- As the ghost smiles and fades away, you hear a clinking sound. You look down to investigate. The 8-ball seems to have knocked a tiny key out of the side pocket!

- You go for the 8. Unfortunately, the pressure causes your hands to sweat, and you make a lousy shot. The ghost takes his turn, easily sinks his last ball, and just as easily makes the 8-ball in the side pocket.
- You slink away glumly.
Play defensively |
You lightly tap the cue ball, knowing you won't sink the 8, but also knowing you won't scratch.
The ghost observes this move and flies into a rage. He glares at you and opens his ghostly maw. Instead of a scream, what emerges from it is a foul geyser of ectoplasmic ooze.
You're grossed out, but some of the otherworldly properties of the ooze must've soaked into your skin.
You gain <mainstat>±4 in Wizardliness, capped at 50 Magicalness. |
Chicken out |
You decide you'd rather leave than risk losing. You do realize that pride is one of the seven deadly sins, right? Anyway, you back out of the room while the ghost isn't looking, and hightail it back to the Right Side of the Tracks.
Occurs as a choice of Broken in The Haunted Billiards Room.
