Cult memo

From A KoL Wiki

cult memo
cult memo

It looks like you've found some kind of note or memo relating to the spaghetti cult. It's written in the same code as the other documents, but the cultist you got it from seems to have made some notes about its content in the margins. It's nothing very interesting, though.

Hmm... although, maybe if you had enough samples like this one, you might be able to use them to crack the cipher.

When Used

With 1 in inventory

Without even trying, you can tell that this single memo isn't going to be enough information to decode the cult documents with. With which the cult documents to decode.

With 2 in inventory

You try to make some guesses at how the code works based on the notes in the margins of the memos, but you don't get much of anywhere. It looks like you're going to need some more samples.

With 3 in inventory

You puzzle over the memos for a bit. You're pretty sure this one squiggly line refers to their spaghetti god, and this other one is code for either 'cultist', or 'cultists', or possibly 'trombone'. Evidently more research is necessary.

With 4 in inventory

After spending some time correlating the memos to the cult documents, you're starting to get a handle on the code -- you've worked out which squiggles are numbers, and deciphered the phonetic code they use for names and other things that don't have a glyph of their own. You're so close to cracking this, you can almost taste it.

With 5 in inventory

You set to work decoding the cult documents. Several hours and two pots of coffee later, the last piece of the puzzle clicks into place. Feeling quite proud of yourself, you transcribe a new, decoded copy of the documents on the back of the originals, and throw the now useless memos away.
You acquire an item: decoded cult documents
