References
- The cantankerous prospector named Ellsbury is likely a reference to the cantankerous prospector Ellsworth from the HBO series Deadwood.
- Ellsbury's skull's comment about the number of mules he's owned is almost certainly a reference to Mad Jack the mountain man, a character from The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, whose ornery mule was named Number 7.
- "Rev'rend!" and the comment about indecipherable frontier gibberish are references to Gabby Johnson, the incoherent frontiersman character from the Mel Brooks movie Blazing Saddles.
- While not a Futurama reference, this quote defines nature's pocket: "Good way to avoid frostbite, folks: Put your hands between your buttocks! That's nature's pocket," Free Waterfall Sen in Futurama.
