You creep down the mineshaft, trying to squelch both the fear in your heart and the squelching noises your galoshes are making, and not having much luck squelching either. The shaft gets deeper, darker and danker until you're certain that none of those properties can be more perfectly exemplified. A rumbling begins beneath you, and you begin to wonder if you're not about to meet the same fate as Ellsbury. And what that fate was.
An earsplitting crack (or was it an earcracking split?) fills the air as a massive pit opens in the floor of the mine. You creep forward, peer into the hole, and wish you hadn't crept forward and peered into a hole, because staring back at you, with two sets of eyes, is an indescribably horrible monster.
Okay, okay, it's not indescribable, I was just being lazy. It's like a big worm with a mouthful of gnashing, razor-sharp teeth, and a couple of tentacles with sets of eyes and these kind of mandible things, and some toothless, pulsating mouth-hole things on the ends. And it's mad at you, much as you'd expect.
Hit Message(s):
It squirms out of its hole and bites a big chunk out of your <throat>. Ugh! Ouch! Ugh! Ouch!
It clotheslines you with one of its tentacles, then hangs you out to dry. Ow! Ow! Ugh! Ow!
One of the tentacles snakes around behind you, and the other pushes you backwards so you trip over it. Humiliating and painful. Ow! Ugh! Eek! Ooh!
It holds you in place with one set of mandibles while pinching your <throat> with the other. Ouch! Ugh! Ooh! Argh!
It picks you up with both sets of mandibles and drops you into its gnashing maw. It's like that time you fell into an industrial garbage compactor, only it smells slightly worse. Ow! Argh! Ugh!
It squirms out of its hole to bite you, but you make like Kevin Bacon and... avoid getting bitten by the evil tunneling worm thing.
It tries to clothesline you with one of its tentacles, but you tumble out of the way, leaving it high and dry.
It whips its tentacles at you furiously, but years of grade school jump-rope games prepared you for this moment perfectly.
It tries to pinch you with its mandibles, but you poke it in all four of its eyes and it backs off.
It whips its tentacles at you, but accidentally triggers a massive cave-in, reburying itself for several minutes. (FUMBLE!)
