Louvre It or Leave It
You wander deeper into the gallery, and find yourself at a dead-end, standing in front of a large black-and-white lithograph that depicts what can only be described as an explosion in a stairway factory. Stairs crisscross the space at impossible angles, cunningly drawn as to seem almost photo-realistic while maintaining a degree of optical illusion that makes your eyes cross.
Someone has placed a small set of steps at the base of the drawing, as though inviting you to step up into it for a quick trip to Migraine Headache Land.
You step up into the drawing and glance around you. Ever hear the expression "too many cooks spoil the broth"? This looks like a case of too many architects. Maybe Home Depot had a big staircase sale or something.
You turn around, looking for where you entered this hellmaze, and aren't in the least surprised to find that the way back to the Gallery has vanished without a trace. Sigh. Another fine mess you've gotten yourself into.

You wisely step away from the headache-inducing, almost-definitely-containing-a-maze, hyphen-overusing painting.
If you've traversed the Violet Fog maze:
You wisely step away from the headache-inducing, almost-definitely-containing-a-maze, hyphen-overusing painting. You've had enough of the mazes inside your own head anyways.

Notes
- This Louvre Map shows how the adventure is laid out. The Relativity adventure leads to 3 of 6 possible paintings, and directions are randomized, but results still the same.
- If you only care about getting Lady Spookyraven's dancing shoes, this strategy will get you there every time:
- Enter the drawing.
- Keep choosing the middle option until you find the picture of melting clocks.
- Choose the top option at the melting clocks.
- Stat gains from the Louvre scale based on your unbuffed main stat.
- You will gain (3x mainstat + 1) Moxie or Mysticality substat, to a maximum of 200.
- When receiving the Muscle boost, if your mainstat is 66 or less, you gain (4x mainstat) Muscle substat; with 67 or more mainstat, you get (mainstat + 200) substat, up to a maximum of 300.
- Alternatively, you gain (3x mainstat, capped at 200) + (mainstat, capped at 100). Or, min(min(3x mainstat, 200) + mainstat), 300).
- This is a conditional noncombat occurring only when at least 5 turns have been spent in the zone.
History
- Prior to May 14, 2014, the Louvre It or Leave It adventure had been similar to the Violet Fog adventure, varying from player to player, ascension to ascension. The revision added some new rewards and a fixed layout.
References
- The Louvre is a world-famous art museum in Paris, France. Displayed within are pieces of art such as the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. Ironically enough, not a single piece of art referenced in this adventure is housed in the Louvre.
- The name of this is a reference to the common phrase "Love it or Leave it."
- The painting depicted is M. C. Escher's Relativity -- see the various Relativity adventures for specific references.
- "Explosion in a stairway factory" is a reference to Nude Descending a Staircase, No. 2, a Marcel Duchamp painting famously described as an "explosion in a shingle factory".
