Talk:Azazel, Ma Belle (old quest)
Possible movie reference?
"You scurry out of the throne room while your insides are still in and your outsides are still out." Would this be a reference to the movie A Knight's Tale and what Wat said to Chaucer when they first met? The quote is here: "Uh, betray us, and I will fong you, until your insides are out, your outsides are in, your entrails will become your extrails I will w-rip... all the p... ung. Pain, lots of pain." --Brandus 07:57, 19 July 2007 (CDT)
Category?
Shouldn't this be categorized to... something? Quests, maybe.--Yubi Shines 16:10, 10 August 2007 (CDT)
Reference?
I'm not sure, but the name of this encounter could be a reference to the old Zelda CDI movie where the King of Hyrule says "Link, mah boi!" this unsigned comment was added by Devion at 19:11 BST, 9 September 2007
- no.

However, it feels like the name of this encounter may be referencing the song Michelle by the Beatles (as in "Michelle, my belle..."). Does anyone else feel the same way? COOLRUNNER87 21:44, 2 April 2008 (CDT)
- Yes, no doubt it's referencing that song. NaryaTheGreat 18:07, 26 November 2011 (CET)
confirmation?
i can confirm the reward lines from a teetotaler reward: "You follow the demon down through the inner city of Pandemonium, across a frozen lake, and up to Azazel's temple. Azazel hovers over a giant obsidian throne, a blur of swirling and flickering glaring eyes and sharp, sharp teeth.
"I heard that you might have recovered the talismans of my evil power," he says, his voice rumbling and whispering like a stampede of librarians. "Show me what you've got."
"Talismans of evil power?" you say, incredulously. You pull out the purple plush unicorn, the bright, rainbow-colored lollipop, and the frilly pink tutu and lay them in front of him.
"You clearly don't understand the nature of evil," Azazel says, then addresses the stuffed unicorn. "Are you okay, Snookums? Did the bad demons hurt you? It's okay, you're safe with me now." He stops, realizes you're still there, and gruffly shouts "leave me to contemplate my evil plans!"
"Um," you say, "there was a reward, right? I mean, if not a reward for returning your dolly, your lolly, and your lacy underthings, at least a reward for not telling anybody."
"You dare to threaten the third most evil demon in Hey Deze?" Azazel shouts. "Very well, then, I shall give you your reward. Bear in mind that the rewards of Hey Deze are likely to be less than agreeable to a mortal weakling like yourself --" he pauses and chuckles evilly, then continues:
"When you eat this, it will turn your stomach to steel! Henceforth, like Tantalus, you will have to eat more food than usual to feel full! Ha ha ha!" You acquire an item: steel lasagna
You decide to get the Hey Deze out of Azazel's temple before he gives you any further "rewards"." --T.max 00:36, 24 September 2007 (CDT)
The reward message for those not on a dietary path: "When you drink this, it will turn your liver to steel! Henceforth, you will have to drink more alcohol to become inebriated! Ha ha ha!" You acquire an item: steel margarita
You decide to get the Hey Deze out of Azazel's temple before he gives you any further "rewards". Kencomer 12:54, 16 October 2007 (CDT)
- And I did the booze path when I tagged the page. Looks like we were just missing the 'You decide to get the Hey Deze out of Azazel's temple before he gives you any further "rewards".' Given the teet and no-path data above, I'm assuming the Oxy message will be the same. --Bagatelle 21:51, 17 October 2007 (CDT)
Bureaucracy of the Damned
I'm spading if you can or cannot adventure outside of the Gate and receive the Bureaucracy of the Damned non-combat adventure upon first adventure inside the Gate.
After 5 turns outside Gate / 1st adventure inside Gate - Did not encounter.
After 6 turns outside Gate / 2nd adventure inside gate - Did not encounter.
After 7 turns outside Gate / 3rd adventure inside gate - Encountered.
By 3rd adventure inside Gate, I mean that it is the 3rd adventure inside after receiving Azazel's Tutu. So in conclusion, I adventured in the Gate until I received all 3 of Azazel's items then adventured at Cobb's Knob for 5, then 1 at Gate, then 1 at Knob(6th adventure outside), then 1 at Gate(2nd inside), 1 at Knob(7th outside), and 1 at Gate(3rd inside). All up it took 10 adventures to go from Tutu to getting Bureaucracy of the Damned.
I don't know what this means. It could be that it only takes 3 inside Gate, or it could mean you can adventure outside, or it could mean that it takes 10 adventures anywhere. I'll let someone else figure it out. :]--Chawmp 04:24, 26 January 2008 (CST)
It took me 9 adventures inside the gate with none outside. Creinu
I got this adventure 5 turns after getting my last item. I only adventured inside the gate though. --Snomans 19:25, 24 April 2008 (CDT)
The Bureaucracy of the Damned occurs regularly every 10 adventures in the friars gate. That is, if you get it on turn 4, you will always get it 4 turns after getting each item. I am not sure if this is affected by adventures outside the gate. -- RogerMexico, 17 May 2008
Kept track of adventuring this round. Started with 75 adventures left, received the following adventures: 7 combats, first Bureaucracy of the Damned non-combat (selected "no thanks" with no adventure loss) [68 adventures left], Hey Deze map non-combat, 1 combat adv, Azazel's unicorn, 8 combats, second BotD ("no thanks") [57 adventures left], 1 combat, Azazel's lollipop, 7 combats, third Botd ("no thanks") [48 adventures left - not 47], 1 combat, semi-rare item non-combat, Azazel's tutu, 1 combat, Victor's meat non-combat, imp ale x3 non-combat, 1 combat, imp ale x3 non-combat, 3 combats, fourth and final BotD [received reward, 36 adventures left - not 37]. The quest item drops were indeed at 10, 20, and 30 turns, but the BotD adventures were not exactly 7 or 10 (or n) adventures apart (7 to first, 11 to second, 9 to third, 11 to final; this is in conflict with the "every 7 adv" statement on the quest page). No combat frequency modifiers were in effect and no turns were played outside the area. Hopefully someone can use this data for some greater purpose...I have no clue what to extrapolate from it. --Volitionist 11:42, 24 June 2008 (CDT)
How it works
When you adventure in The Deep Fat Friars' Gate, count the number of turns it takes until the Bureaucracy of the Damned adventure shows up for the first time. Let's call this number N. Then, when you have completed 30 turns in The Deep Fat Friars' Gate and thus have received the three quest items (Azazel's unicorn, lollipop, and tutu), you spend as many turns elsewhere so as to return on the (30+N)th turn. Here is a table that makes this clearer, the encounters are from my current ascension. --Mr Crac 13:10, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Turn Number | Encountered Adventure | Remarks |
---|---|---|
1 | Highway to Hey Deze | Non-combat which gives the Hey Deze map |
2 | Hellion | |
3 | W imp | |
4 | P imp | |
5 | L imp | |
6 | Fallen Archfiend | |
7 | W imp | |
8 | Bureaucracy of the Damned / Hellion | Do not follow the pencilnecked demon. In this example the turn number is 8, this is the N you are looking for. |
9 | Demoninja | |
10 | We're on a Bridge! | Azazel's unicorn (always occurs on the 10th turn) |
11 | G imp | |
11 | P imp | |
13 | Fallen Archfiend | |
14 | W imp | |
15 | L imp | |
16 | Demoninja | |
17 | G imp | |
18 | P imp | |
19 | Bureaucracy of the Damned / Hellion | Do not follow the pencilnecked demon. I would have expected this to occur one turn earlier. It does not seem to be consistent with #8, #28, and #38. |
20 | It's a Good Ship! | Azazel's lollipop (always occurs on the 20th turn) |
21 | P imp | |
22 | W imp | |
23 | P imp | |
24 | G imp | |
25 | Demoninja | |
26 | Fallen Archfiend | |
27 | L imp | |
28 | Bureaucracy of the Damned / W imp | Do not follow the pencilnecked demon. |
29 | G imp | |
30 | Going Ballet Up | Azazel's tutu (always occurs on the 30th turn) |
31 | This turn spent elsewhere! | Adventure anywhere outside of The Deep Fat Friars' Gate |
32 | This turn spent elsewhere! | see above |
33 | This turn spent elsewhere! | see above |
34 | This turn spent elsewhere! | see above |
35 | This turn spent elsewhere! | see above |
36 | This turn spent elsewhere! | see above |
37 | This turn spent elsewhere! | see above |
38 | Bureaucracy of the Damned | 30+N = 30+8 = 38 (in this example, the number may vary!) This time, you follow the pencilnecked demon to receive the steel margarita/lasagna/air freshener. |
30+N is really not enough ;) Here is my own example (L, W, P, G=imps, H=hellion, D=demoninja, DD=daily dungeon adv) :
1 hey deze map 2 L 3 W 4 D 5 P 6 P 7 Bureaucracy 8 H 9 G 10 L 11 first azazel's item 12 W 13 P 14 D 15 W 16 H -> welcome back (llama) 17 G 18 L 19 Bureaucracy 20 G 21 Friars No More (150 meat) 22 second azazel's item 23 D 24 G 25 H 26 P 27 W 28 L 29 Bureaucracy 30 H -> D, D => 2 free runaways (bandersnatch) 31 third azazel's item -> G => 1 free runaway (bandersnatch) 32 DD 33 DD 34 DD 35 DD 36 DD 37 DD 38 P 39 L 40 Bureaucracy

The timings between my Bureaucracy adventure seem to vary, my first happend on the 7th adventure. The 2nd on the 12th after that. The 3rd on the 10th. Then the final on the 10th.
For the sake of spading.

Can the reward items be retained between ascensions?
I know you can't perm the skills, but can you hold onto the reward item to use in your next ascension? This way, if you plan ahead of time sufficiently, you can use the stomach, liver, AND spleen of steel in a single ascension. This would be a really good idea if you plan to stop ascending for awhile.--Steam 07:33, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Nice thouht but, that will not work, the reward items are all Quest Items, and if not used would vanish upon ascension. So it is a use it or lose it situation. You are best off using it as soon as one can, and wringing the most out of them. --MadonKody 11:31, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
After dropping a path...
Is it possible to go back and get the margarita you would have gotten for not taking a path to begin with? For that matter, since Booze and no-path both give you the margarita, does dropping Booze still cause you to lose it? --Billybobfred 23:43, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
