Talk:Bottle opener belt buckle

From A KoL Wiki

The damage returned was between 1-5 for me. --Dibbin 14:39, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

Tried it on the NS as alternative for acid-squirting flower, but it didn't give me any messages. Can anyone confirm it does work? --MoreCurious 09:44, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

"Your opponent gets a little too close and gets a 3 damage gut-slicing, courtesy of your belt-mounted bottle opener." It took a few rounds for it to work, but it does do damage. --Blazingthunder 08:42, 19 August 2007 (CDT)

This item seems to work differently than the acid-squirting flower, hippy protest button, and Psalm of Pointiness. They all trigger 100% when (and only when) a monster hits you. I used this buckle against a monster expecting a similar mechanic. Originally paying attention only to rounds where the monster hit me, the buckle did not activate on the first hit, did 3 damage to it on the second hit, and did not activate on the next 3 hits. Then I got this odd result:

You're fighting The Astronomer

You begin to read from the dictionary. Your opponent is nonplussed.

Irukandji shambles up to your opponent with a "Graaaaagh," and bites him on the head. He seems a little dazed by the experience.

Your opponent gets a little too close and gets a 4 damage gut-slicing, courtesy of your belt-mounted bottle opener.

He tries to headbutt you, but you spin around and butthead him.

The buckle triggered in a round where the monster did not hit me. Surprised me. I don't expect the NPZR's delevel had any effect on the result, but I put the whole text in there in case. Could be that this buckle simply has a (small?) chance to trigger each round, regardless of other actions of you or your opponent? Would make it better than the hippy button if you are out-moxing your opponents and getting hit only by crits, worse if you're getting hit often. --Terion 23:02, 3 May 2008 (CDT)
