Boredom

I started receiving the "5 CRIMBCO scrip" adventures at approximately 60% boredom, and at 80% boredom, I'm very rarely receiving the "10 CRIMBCO scrip" adventures. --Itsatrap 05:50, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

  • I got my first slacker adventure at 60% Boredom too. --Luke 05:53, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
  • I got my first at 63%. --Beliar Lightbearer 06:58, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
  • I got my first at 54%. Nadando 07:02, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
  • I got my first at 72%. --Dangerousdan 08:52, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
  • 55%--Modran 09:02, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
  • First at 58%, and the cap is NOT 75% I got the 10 scrip monsters at 77, 80, 82, and 93% and yes that was the level I was at when I encountered the relevant monster, not what I was afterward.-- Watermoon 19:41, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
  • I got my first at 57% and my last at 99% --Langsuir 21:45, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Wondering if there is a formula for getting 5 CRIMBCO scrip instead of ten. Something like:

  • Chance of getting 10 CRIMBCO scrip = 200% - 2*boredom%

So at 50% boredom you start having a chance of not getting CRIMBCO scrip. At 55% boredom you have a 40% chance of getting 10 CRIMBO scrip. At 60% boredom you have a 30% chance of getting 10 CRIMBO scrip. At 65% boredom you have a 20% chance of getting 10 CRIMBO scrip. At 70% boredom you have a 10% chance of getting 10 CRIMBO scrip. At 75% boredom you have a 0% chance of getting 10 CRIMBO scrip. --Rahmuss 16:51, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Wearing a lanyard, I've gotten the regular adventures as late as 91% boredom, so my guess for a formula (w/ lanyard) would be:

  • Chance of getting 5 CRIMBCO scrip = (Boredom% - 50)*2

Thus: at 50% boredom you start having a chance of not getting CRIMBCO scrip. At 55% boredom you have a 90% chance of getting 10 CRIMBO scrip. At 75% boredom you have a 50% chance of getting 10 CRIMBO scrip. At 85% boredom you have a 30% chance of getting 10 CRIMBO scrip. At 99% boredom you have a 2% chance of getting 10 CRIMBO scrip. --Valliant 20:35, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

No semirare

Zone does not seem to contain a semirare adventure. --Itsatrap 05:52, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Semi-rare window from 31 to 71 Boredom - no drop --Dangerousdan 08:49, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Stat Gains

The monsters here are about 5 or so substat, unless you have a lanyard equipped, at which point they scale, like the Crimbo monsters of years past. --Jimfromtx 11:37, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Spooky Putty & 4-D Camera

I previously tried using a 4-D Camera on the Best Game Ever. It didn't work. I tried using one on a normal monster later, in an attempt to explore if getting over 100% boredom was possible. They can't be copied either. MatrixM 13:26, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

  • If its relevant, Transcendent Olfaction can be used but does not change the encounter rate.--Tombot 19:23, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
  • As noted in the article, Hideous Slide Show is subject to Transcendent Olfaction. I've had it work at pretty much any boredom level. So far it's the only "Olfactable" monster. --StorellaDeville 00:34, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Combat Ending without adventure loss

Does ending the combat without loosing an adventure (such as with a tattered scrap of paper) still cause you to gain boredom?--Qbr12 14:01, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Doesn't seem to. I used a Divine Champagne Popper against a distraction (Book of Faces) which caused it to flee, ending the combat, and my boredom level did not increase. Interestingly, it didn't seem to have the "keep away" effect; I fought another Book of Faces 2 combats later which should not happen after using the DCPopper. I sent a bug report and received the following message: "The CRIMBCO headquarters zone is narratively too small for poppers and other banishers to work correctly. We need to add a message like the one that you see when trying to use a banisher on the nemesis island to the zone, though. Hopefully someone will have time to do this soon." --Method 20:22, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Getting beat up doesn't add to boredom, either. Shadowlynk 20:17, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Sword Behind Inappropriate Prepositions

None of the 'crimbco scrip' drop messages, with the roller-skating elf, are affected by the Sword. Not sure where to put this. --Lxndr 23:03, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

No Turtle Taming

EOM. There's no turtles here that you can tame. --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 03:12, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

New Monsters as of 12/20

You're fighting a hideous slide show

Muster up all of the attention span you have, and see if you can disconnect the part of your brain that critiques visual input: Mr. Mination has sent everyone a huge slide show presentation to watch as part of his ongoing employee enrichment program. All of the slides have a lime green background with huge block paragraphs of neon yellow text in a font comically lacking serifs. And just in case you were going to let your mind wander, he's included a droning narration of all of the information that's on the slides in the first place. I mean, seriously. What's the point of that?

The good part was: An elf on roller skates whizzes by and tosses you a 20-scrip note. "That slide show looked brutal -- there's some hazard pay for ya!" he says, skating away.--Harlock the Bard 03:57, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

This new monster was accompanied by an inability to adventure in the cubicles until I visited Mr. Mination and received a "promotion".

Uh oh... <loudspeaker.gif>

As you're headed to the cubicles, you're nearly deafened by a blaring announcement from the loudspeaker.
<Name>... <Name>... Please report to Mr. Mination's office immediately.

When visiting the office:

You walk into the office and see Mr. Mination shuffling a stack of papers. He glances up at you, then takes off both pairs of reading glasses and motions for you to sit.

"It's time for your quarterly performance review," he says. "Tell me: do you enjoy your job here at CRIMBCO?"

"I can honestly say I've never been happier earning CRIMBCO scrip," you say, with a straight face.

Mr. Mination smiles and slaps you on the back (without getting up from behind the desk -- man, that's a long arm!). "I like you, Mr.. ordeith," he says. "I think you have a real future here at CRIMBCO, if you keep your nose clean and to the grindstone. I'm giving you a promotion. As of now, you're no longer an entry-level butt monkey."

"Wow, thanks a lot, Mr. Min --"

"You're now a 2nd-order butt monkey. That means you get to do a lot more work for a little more pay. Enjoy!"

My multi, which has worked in the cubicles on 19 Dec, did not get promoted on 20 Dec. HolyCow1234 08:06, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

I encountered it just now, and I've got 520 scrips. I haveve spent about 450, and I do not think I've gotten any distractions, so I think one must spend around 97 ads in the cubicles to get the announcement. HolyCow1234 08:16, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Promotion can occur even on one's first day of work (if on or after Dec. 20), after spending exactly 100 adventures in the Cubicles. 100% boredom, before fighting the Best Game Ever -- also 890 CRIMBCO scrip, but I doubt that's the key. --Baltar 18:37, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Just tested and confirmed that promotion will occur on turn #101 in the Cubicles, regardless of boredom level (was at 0% at the time) and regardless of Crimbco Scrip collected too, on a multi who had never adventured in the Crimbo 2010 areas until today. --Wrldwzrd89 21:14, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
It's possible this counter is reset on ascension. Someone I know had farmed tons of scrip before this change happened, ascended into BM, is power levelling at the cubicles, and has yet to be promoted. Of course, this person is also a dev, so it's possible they accidentally did something only devs can and wiped their flag or something. I'm in a speedrun right now, so I don't want to risk wasting a turn to check if I get promoted right away or not. --Flargen 22:08, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
Just completed a run. Adventured at the cubicles, no promotion. The counter definitely resets on ascension. --Flargen 08:29, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

On 12/25, a character who had never been promoted (but who was already employed and had previously adventured in the CRIMBCO Cubicles) immediately received Uh oh..., followed immediately by Climbing That Ladder, and then immediately by The Sounds of Violence. --Baltar 00:04, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Initiative

Tested and got 100, at least for the files. I'm assuming since every monster has the same stats they share the same initiative, too.--JohnAnon 18:41, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
