Talk:Crimbo Town Toy Factory (2012)

From A KoL Wiki

So, they apparently have random names. Here's a name, just for spading, you guys can add it

Name: Ergo Witches
File: animelf4.gif
Start: This animelf is responsible for play-testing all the toys the animelfs make. You might think that's a great job--I mean, who wouldn't want to play with toys all day?--but really, it just means you pick up a Chibibuddy™ poke all the buttons, and make sure the thing doesn't explode.

And occasionally, they do explode, and he gets burned, and now he's ready to explode at you.

(Crit?) Hit: He throws a Chibibuddy™ at you, leaving an egg-shaped impression in your (possibly also egg-shaped) head.
(Crit?) Hit: He picks up a handful of faulty Chibibuddies and hurls them at you. They explode on impact, and the intense pain gives you new respect for this animelf's job.
Hit: He throws a BittyCar at you, which is both simple assault and a hit-and-run.
(Here: I accidently CLEESH'd...)

Name: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
File: animelf5.gif
Start: This animelf is responsible for snapping together all the little plastic pieces that make the animelfs' toys, without accidentally snapping off any of the little plastic pieces that make the animelfs' toys. She's a little twitchy these days, and you just stepped on one of the pieces that were on the floor, and she's about to snap at you and then snap you like a little plastic piece on one of the animelf's toys.
Gender: female
Drops: You acquire an item: plastic ingot (18 pnd. jack in the box that exploded on kill, +25% item)

Cool12309 (talk) 07:20, 16 December 2012 (CET)

The names seem to be assembled from parts of titles of anime (Elfen King, Chrono Note, Honey of the Fireflies and these would be referencing Elfen Lied, Shaman King, Chrono Crusade, Death Note, Cutie Honey, etc etc). +

File: animelf1.gif

− One kill on a certain kind of elf with the Manuel gives you the stats for that group, but that's not surprising at all. Drops have included plastic ingot. --shirashira 1:20 AM EST December 16 2012

Name: Devil Hunter Utena
File: animelf1.gif
Start: This animelf sits at a tiny bench all day long and screws hundreds of tiny screws into hundreds of tiny toys. It's grueling work. Backbreaking work. Very boring work. She's always grateful for a distraction, especially if it involves stabbing someone in the eye with a screwdriver.
Gender: female
Drops: You acquire an item: plastic ingot (18 pnd. jack in the box that gave message 'You turn N/A's crank for a while.', +25% item)

Cool12309 (talk) 07:23, 16 December 2012 (CET)

With a bounty hunting rig and a psychedelic dancing bear, I got two plastic ingot drops on the same monster. - shirashira 1:25 AM EST 16 December 2012

Special NC at turn 50

Adventure Results: Getting a Leg Up

You step up quietly behind one of the animelfs who is actually working instead of lurking and attacking you. It looks like he's building a little toy robot kookaburra, but then he snaps a thing back, folds a thing around, and it turns into a leg! "Hey, that's pretty cool," you say, "but do kids really want to play with a leg?"

"Oh, once we build it to scale, people won't have any choice but to... yipe!" he yells, finally turning around to see you. The animelf leaps off his chair and runs into the darkness.

You pocket the little kookaburra/leg toy and bring it to Uncle Crimboku. "This is good stuff, kid, ha ha," he says. "It would be accurate to say that we could reverse-engineer it and use it to counter whatever they're building in there ne!"

--Alabit 07:30, 16 December 2012 (CET) P.S i got 2 thingamabobs from a single monster--Alabit 07:30, 16 December 2012 (CET)

More (by GIF type):

  • Highschool of the Valley of the Wind (5-F)
  • Vampire Seed Alchemist (1-F)
  • Chairo Imori (2-M)
  • Highschool of the Fireflies (5)
  • Scrapped Twins (4-M)
  • Niwa no Joou (3-M)
  • Midori Suzumebachi (2)
  • Yama no Sentouin (3)
  • Murasaki Usagi (2)
  • Peace Hunter Sakura (1)
  • Whisper of Lodoss War (5)
  • Samurai Seed Robin (1)
  • Janguru no Kokuou (3)

So at this point I'm reading to stage some hypotheses all up in here:

  • Type 1 animelfs (female) always have three-part names, and the name parts always come from animes that have three-part names. Furthermore, the three parts are always applied in order - the second part will always go in the second part slot. For instance, Witch Hunter Robin is referenced in two of the above names - Peace Hunter Sakura and Samurai Seed Robin.
  • Type 2 animelfs (male) always have two-part names, which are in Japanese.
  • Type 3 animelfs (male) always have three-part names, also in Japanese, but the middle word is always no ("of").
  • The sample size is too small to say right now, but it looks like Type 4 animelfs (male) have two-part English names. I would guess the name component rules are the same as for the Type 1s, but that's just speculation right now.
  • Type 5 animelfs might use the same naming system as Type 3s, except in English - all their names have at least one "of."

If someone else could expand this list to supplement my own research, I'd appreciate it. -Captain Video 19:27, 16 December 2012 (CET)

I agree with your analysis video. I think the key thing here is to just to figure out a list of the original titles that get split up to form the random names. Discordance 20:14, 16 December 2012 (CET)

    • Once we have exhaustive lists, this information should probably be put on the appropriate pages. Thanks so much for all that research. I was the only guy trying to figure out fire servant names and I eventually had to give up the project because it was just too much work. -Captain Video 02:01, 17 December 2012 (CET)

I've moved everything to the pages. Between the 4 of us spading everything today i'm fairly sure we got everything. If not having the lists up on the monster pages gives other people a chance to add to them. This page is a bit hidden for casual visitors. Discordance 12:44, 17 December 2012 (CET)

  • If you care, I've updated my link above with today's names. Sorted and filtered for uniqueness, I'm up to 922 names. I was amused to see a complete, correct, movie title today: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Stats

I make wiki tables so rarely that I have to relearn how every time so hopefully someone more experienced can come along and make this better. Feel free to delete this sentence and the one before it when that happens. --Kitsunegami 04:02, 17 December 2012 (CET)

My deepest apologies. I totally screwed up this table's headings yesterday and mistyped two numbers. I have now fixed it and added another row of data for after the first 50 advs. I'll add today's data as well--Kitsunegami 22:40, 17 December 2012 (CET)

Animelf Scaling (first 50 advs)
Animelf stats Character stats

289 448 336 453 367 294
370 372 279 377 305 375

Animelf Scaling (After first 50 advs)
Animelf stats Character stats
Attack Defense HP Muscle Myst Moxie
342 426 319 431 310 347
  • I picked up seven new data points today (got the non-com as my first adventure, believe it or not) using differing gear and before and after gaining various amounts of stats throughout the day, and in every case, their attack was Mox+6 and defense was Mus+6.
My pre-non-com data from yesterday implies Stat-5. Oddly enough, so does my one data point from late in the day.
I'm not seeing any pattern on the HP, but am willing to keep gathering data and posting it here so someone else can try and figure out how HP is calculated. --Kitsunegami 00:28, 18 December 2012 (CET)
  • I inadvertently went most of yesterday with my MCD set to 11 and don't know know whether that could affect scaling. If so, then the previous formula of Stat+5 is probably right since I got +5 two days ago but +6 yesterday with +11 ML. --Kitsunegami 06:55, 18 December 2012 (CET)

At this point I'm pretty sure they scale (I finally picked up a Monster Manuel just to confirm it). When I still had leftover Twinklefairy from yesterday their stats were 312 attack, 478 defense, and 336 HP. Once that effect wore off they all had 289/448/336. --Kitsunegami 18:57, 16 December 2012 (CET)

  • I'm actively compiling a spreadsheet of their stats and my stats and can post it if needed, but as I write this it only has six data points. --Kitsunegami 19:01, 16 December 2012 (CET)
  • Twinklefairy had already worn off before it occurred to me to record my buffed stats, but during all six combats since then they've been 453/367/294. In case it matters, Stevedave's is the only stat-boosting effect I have active. --Kitsunegami 19:06, 16 December 2012 (CET)

They do scale and manuel confirms, so probably no need to spade the stats. Discordance 20:16, 16 December 2012 (CET)

  • Ignore me, need to know how they scale. Discordance 21:23, 16 December 2012 (CET)

With 20755(14821) moxie and 4594(3819) muscle, and +11 ML I was getting 2501-2504 substats (Discounting sign bonus) and hitting (reasonably consistently)with a lead pipe for 28-29 damage if that's any help at all. --BlanketThief 22:52, 16 December 2012 (CET)

  • I hadn't thought of tracking experience gains. Seems obvious now. --Kitsunegami 23:26, 16 December 2012 (CET)

As far as I can tell, they scale to just above your stats to start out with, and then after getting the "Getting a Leg Up" adventure they scale to slightly below your stats. I have experimented with various buffs to this effect; being Beaten Up had the same effect on their stats as well.

  • By this I mean Their attack scales relevant to your moxie etc.

Sardaman 22:54, 16 December 2012 (CET)

  • All of my data in the table above is before "Getting a Leg Up", but I'll have to check my adventure log to see if it's come up since then before adding any more data points. I wouldn't have known to look for it if you hadn't mentioned it, so thank you. --Kitsunegami 23:26, 16 December 2012 (CET)
    • Having gotten the third non-combat they do not appear to scale down any further, but the change in scaling for me happened at the same time as getting the second non-combat. Sardaman 04:44, 17 December 2012 (CET)
    • Further exploration seems to support the following hypothesis: the animelfs scale to just above your stats for the first 50 adventures in the zone each day(correspondent to the number of adventures it takes to get the next non-combat) but then afterwards scale to just below your stats. However, as the non-combats seem to operate on an overall adventures spent counter rather than a per day counter, this means you can get the non-combat for the day and then spend 50 further adventures in the toy factory at less danger, causing you to recieve the next day's non-combat on your first adventure in the zone that day. Animelfs encountered afterwards will still use the higher scaling until you have spent 50 adventures there that day, however. Of course, the nature of this hypothesis means I can't do any further spading myself until after the next rollover. Sardaman 05:17, 17 December 2012 (CET)
    • All animelfs encountered for me after the 50 adventure mark today have consistently had stats as follows: Attack equal to 5 below my buffed moxie, defense equal to 5 below my buffed muscle, health equal to roughly half my buffed moxie(seems to vary, likely not calculated from my moxie) Sardaman 06:01, 17 December 2012 (CET)

Just as a visual aid, since my theory is a bit of a wall of text, here is a table instead:

Possible Animelf Scaling
First 50 adventures in the factory per day All subsequent adventures that day
Attack Defense Health Attack Defense Health
Your buffed Moxie +5 Your buffed Muscle +5 ??? Your buffed Moxie -5 Your buffed Muscle -5 ???

Sardaman 06:34, 17 December 2012 (CET)

    • As of today, I am getting stats scaled to just -5 version. I did get the non-combat for the day as the first adventure, however, so the scaling may have been modified to take place concurrently with receival of the day's non-combat rather than after 50 turns that day. Sardaman 07:26, 18 December 2012 (CET)
    • For the past two days the animelfs have been scaling to exactly my stats, regardless of how many turns I spent the previous day. Furthermore, I have still been getting the noncombat the first turn each day, but some friends have not, implying the noncombats operate off a counter of overall adventures spent in the factory, rather than per day. Sardaman 01:47, 25 December 2012 (CET)

Monster Manuel shows the animelfs cap out around 10,000 ML ... this may change later, as crimbo elves are supposed to be uncapped scaling ... AvangionQ 06:39, 17 December 2012 (CET) PS, I get identical stat gains from hipster combats ...

In every data point I have but the first, the HP is always 75% of the defense. The exception is 70%. I think it's safe to say we have animelf scaling spaded out.

That really excites me because I've never been such a big part of a spading effort before. Normally I wait a couple of days then check the wiki, or occasionally provide a bit of data but don't do any analysis. This was rather fun. I should do it more often. --Kitsunegami 08:53, 18 December 2012 (CET)

I updated one of the monsters with the correct stats now that we know them, but it broke the display on this article. It now says:

Substat Gain: Expression error: Unrecognised word "player"

The problem is that I didn't see anywhere on the monster's page to put experience, so I have no idea where it's getting that. --Kitsunegami 09:36, 18 December 2012 (CET)

  • aparently it is possible to randomly roll all the parts of an actual anime, seeing how i just encountered 'highschool of the dead'--Mco 10:28, 18 December 2012 (CET)
