Talk:Crocodile Tear
If we believe Southwest's theory in the Salty Dogs talk page (and I do), we should expect this to knock off one of the negative effects of being in the ocean. In particular, the references to sympathy suggest it negates the negative familiar weight from of the bathysphere (perhaps invisibly) when adventuring underwater. Anybody want to test? --Buttons 00:01, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
My familiar weight is still reduced by the bathysphere even with the effect active (didn't try actually adventuring though). --Fig bucket 00:11, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe try adventuring with a familiar without the bathysphere? --CG1:t,c,e 19:31, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Anyone tried using both the salt and the tear at the same time? Maybe with Sake and fish? --Phantomreader42 06:06, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
It increases familiar weight invisibly I believe, so that it only has affect underwater. I took a 5 pound (not including bathysphere) star fish there and it was getting 7-14 mojo points. So it could be up to +30 pounds if it works of the bathysphered weight or more likely +15 pounds-ish. I had a number of other effects running, so it could be them.--Shoveller 14:53, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- My pygmy bugbear shaman was taking away 12 MP at 15 pounds and 14 MP at 18 pounds. I think it's +10 lbs underwater. Above water the shaman took away the normal 7 MP at 15 pounds, so it doesn't have an effect there.--GoldS 00:00, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah I miscalculated the starfish formula, it was actually consistent with +10 pounds. I also had a bunch of other unspaded effects on, so I wasn't sure it was all this. I think you can safely say it is this. Also it works off the weight displayed in the side panel, not total weight modifications. E.g. if you had a one pound familiar with a bathysphere on it would be 11 pounds with a teardrop. I tested this by adding a bit of fam weight to a very weak starfish and it not making any difference. --Shoveller 00:17, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- My 16 lb. green pixie did between 13-26 damage over 94 attacks; this is consistent with the damage formula for a 26 lb. pixie. So, I'm concluding +10 lbs as well.--Ahamster 02:07, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
An easier way to test this is to see how much more protection a parrot gives while you have this effect. --Wavedash 03:25, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- Do any of the underwater enemies deal elemental damage, though?--Buttons 17:07, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
