Talk:Cursed piece of thirteen

From A KoL Wiki

Using one of these seems to either land you a little meat(around 500), or it triggers a fight with a scary pirate. I'm guessing it's random as to which you get. --Joeisme 13:15, 4 December 2007 (CST)

  • I wonder if the pirate will drop the pineal gland like he did in the rift era, actually Jick said something about a world event with this, maybe that is it. --Chunky_boo 13:17, 4 December 2007 (CST)

Meat drop is definitely lower bound than that. I got something like 507. --Wildfire393 20:01, 4 December 2007 (CST)

With my first piece of thirteen I got to fight the scary pirate the first two times then I sold it. Does everyone get to use it three times?--Wylin 15:54, 5 December 2007 (CST)

  • I had one let me fight the pirate once, and one where I just sold it immediately. So, no. --Sel Ibrix 19:55, 5 December 2007 (CST)
I've used two and gotten meat both times and no fights. Gront 20:04, 5 December 2007 (CST)

So, using two coins, I fought three pirates.
In the Scary Pirate Talk page, Someone said they got Cursed breeches as a drop off one. So I looked in the item list.
Cursed eyepatch
Cursed cutlass
All three make up the Cursed Zombie Pirate Costume.
Let's get some spading on this! I'm interested...

Where do you get one of these?--Terrabull 10:03, 6 December 2007 (CST)

Must be a low drop rate from the fight. Used 12 of them so far. Six went straight to the meat, the other six had anywhere from 1 to 5 fights in them - total of 12 fights. No drop, wearing Jek, stainless pants, monocle, bottle rocket, grateful undead, pixie with pumpkin bucket to increase drop rate. Also, when used and you get a fight, the coin stays in inventory, so you can try again. --Robotfrog 18:25, 6 December 2007 (CST)

Whoa, I dont get how to get this item.--EatMeQuick 20:19, 7 December 2007 (CST)

Using the Curse Magnet effect, it seems you're more likely to fight more pirates before having to sell the coin and lose it. This is based on about using it before and after the effect was on, with more than two dozen of each sample size.--WhiskeyJack 21:38, 7 December 2007 (CST)

Other than the items from the coordinate adventure, where can you get these?--EatMeQuick 10:06, 8 December 2007 (CST)

  • Nowhere. --InvalidUser 02:48, 18 December 2007 (CST)
  • Well, you can get them in the Mall, too. --ElroyJetson 18:56, 6 January 2008 (CST)

Are people stll getting the scary pirate when using this? I've used 8 of these, starting in December 20-something, and haven't gotten it once, so I'm thinking maybe this was perhaps a limited adventure that is no longer available. Has anyone fought the pirate recently? --Riznok 20:27, 3 January 2008 (CST)

  • My multi fought 20 scary pirates on 3-Jan-2008, so I'd guess you were just experiencing the curse of the RNG. Did you have the Curse Magnet effect running? That's supposed to increase your chances of getting a scary pirate from using a piece of thirteen. --ElroyJetson 18:56, 6 January 2008 (CST)
    • Thanks, I tried it again using the curse magnet, and I was able to fight a few pirates. No drops though... --Riznok 03:29, 16 January 2008 (CST)

Definitely need to have a few things to maximize drop rate of the cursed items. First, make certain to have the curse magnet effect, then maximize your item drop rate (fairy type, etc.). Not certain if both needed, but one or both clearly helped. With a multitude of item drop effects and items, took 56 cursed pieces of thirteen to get 3 cursed item drops. The increased rate of the cursed pirate adventure was evident, with an average of 3-4 adventures per piece before the meat adventure option. Sometimes I'd get 8-10 adventures on one piece of thirteen, others straight to the meat adventure. In total it took over 160+ adventures, but much better chances than without the effects on. EDIT: BTW, that was all done in one day (17 January 2008), so it is still dropping. --Robotfrog 21:45, 17 January 2008 (CST)

I'm still gathering data on pirate drop rates, but here's the data so far on combat rates. Without Curse Magnet: Used 300 (206 sold, 94 pirates fought) With Curse Magnet: Used 690 (230 sold, 460 pirates fought)--Yiab 21:46, 26 January 2008 (CST)

Drop Rate

Just curious, as it seems the drop rate for zombie gear is very low, might it actually be a semi-rare drop? Of course, I didn't think of this before using up all my chances for the time-being. Might get another chance tomorrow.--Stanley 14:27, 13 March 2008 (CDT)

  • since i got all three pieces in 18 combats that seems unlikely. --Evilkolbot 15:39, 13 March 2008 (CDT)

I Just got a peice of equipment last week. However, I have used a bunch and not got another piece since.. The Piece that dropped for me was a moxie stat, and i am a DB.. i wonder if your stat effects the item dropped. —Preceding unsigned comment added by bitterhawk (talkcontribs)
