Talk:Ed the Undying
Once Per Fight Limits
There's a long bit in the notes about things that happen only once per fight (purple snowcone burps, ability to use Entangling Noodles, etc. All of the ones listed work once for each form. Is there anything that only works once for the whole battle? I think those are obsolete notes and Ed has been fixed to treat each fight as a seperate fight. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 21:45, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
Combat and Stat's
With 238 buffed muscle, weilding a drowsy sword, I got the toy space helmet message that "my opponent is approximately as strong as you are."
I believe that means that his attack rating is around 250. --Starwed 16:18, 30 June 2007 (CDT)
- I didn't check, but I'd assume his initial form has around 500 hp.
- His second form has about 250 hp.
- His third form has around 120 hp.
- His fourth form, around 54 hp.
- His fifth form, around 22 hp.
- His sixth form, around 6hp.
- His final form has around 1hp.
However, it seemed that his attack stays the same throughout the fight. --Starwed 16:29, 30 June 2007 (CDT)
I beat his first form with two shots of around 100 damage, so I think his initial hp is 200 or so.--Etliay 03:57, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
I think it might scale, then. I definitely had 250hp on the second form. --Starwed 06:07, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
I was getting hit occassionally with a moxie of 185, placing his monster level somewhere in the upper 170's to low 180's (given that a note on the page says 195 seemed to be good enough for "no-hit"). --Jorgen 09:22, 3 July 2007 (CDT)
- I only got hit once with a moxie of 188; it was his very first attack. It may have been a critical though; I didn't think to record it at the time. -- Tanstaafl 20:50, 9 July 2007 (CDT)
- Someone edited the article saying 195 moxie was enough to get a no-damage victory over Ed. I fought him and got critical-hit with a buffed Moxie of 290.--GeeDee 13:45, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
- That's what critical hits do, hit you regardless of whether your moxie would usually be higher. Monsieur 16:24, 17 July 2007 (CDT)
I had 120 buffed moxie, and I dealt:
- Form 1: Turn 1 - 139 dmg, Turn 2 - 139 dmg (278 total)
- Form 2: Turn 1 - 158 dmg, Turn 2 - 63 dmg, Turn 3, 61 dmg (282 total)
- Form 3: 155 dmg
- Form 4: 81 dmg
- Form 5: 63 dmg
- Form 6: 43 dmg
- Form 7: 42 dmg

Entangling Noodle's effect seem to carry over forms. That is, when I entangled his first form and defeated him in three turns, he broke free on the first of second form and I can't cast it again (as it only works once per fight). Someone should probably add it in a form that's acceptable, since my attempts to edit actual pages (to make them better) seem to always fail catastrophicaly one way or another.
Please sign your posts. Form 1- 2 hits of 110-130 damage Form 2- 2 hits of same Form 3- 2 hits of same Form 4- 1 hit Form 5,6,7- all 1 hit. Always got initiative with ~180 buffed mus, always got hit with ~100 mox (base and buffed)--DaemonStryker 12:11, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
"First Form: <414 HP Second Form: <320 HP Third Form: <153 HP Fourth Form: ... Fifth, Sixth, and Final: ...
So unless he scales, he probably has 400 HP for the first form. And I'm assuming it halves each time just because its a nice formula."--Golden cow2 15:46, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
I just killed his final form with a seal tooth. 8 1-damage hits brought him down. --ShaggyShaggs 10:17, 16 July 2007 (CDT)
As a level 16 clubber I had 627 HP (in case it scales) and was one-shotting each form. 301 damage killed the first form, 302 on the second.
Not exactly stat-related, but the refresh trick normally used on the NS most definitely works here. It's how I avoided being killed after he broke my Noodles. Ponder Stibbons 13:01, 9 September 2007 (CDT)
References
Regarding the references section, I doubt that 'Ed-hotep' is referring to the movies The Mummy or Bubba Ho-tep. "Ed? Not Ed-Ra, or Ed-hotep, or something?" is likely general Egyptian flavor names - Imhotep was a famous leader and Ra was a deity. --Akravator 22:54, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
Ed, you've got an arm off Possibly a reference to Shaun of the Dead?--Scudworths 11:18, 4 July 2007 (CDT)
- It won't be. More likely to be a reference to the monty python 'black knight' fight, where King Arthur kept hacking off his opponents body parts. The line was "You've got an arm off!" "It's only a flesh wound." The shaun of the dead line was 'He's got an arm off', and the situation wasn't as similar as the holy grail is to the ed fight. 314159 17:30, 13 July 2007 (CDT)
- I'd have thought this fight using the same line as the one in Shaun of the Dead would count as a reference, wouldn't it? Monsieur 16:24, 17 July 2007 (CDT)
Ed's remains being in the corner of the room and his groans and muttered curses seem to be referencing a scene from the film Snatch, wherein a character by the name of Boris is shot multiple times, collapses in a corner, and curses the man who shot him for several minutes.
I forget when it appeared in the film, but I remember a character having a description consisting of "Apparently it's just impossible to kill the bastard."--C646156 11:32, 15 July 2007 (CDT)
I'm thinking "Hit him, baby, one more time" is likely a warcraft III reference to clicking on a unit repeatedly. The sorceress, says "Click me, baby, one more time" after 4 clicks. Being as that is the 4th message you get, I think that's too similiar to be a coincidence. --Currman 14:34, 16 August 2007 (CDT)
- They're both ref's to the Spears song Baby One More Time. --Killerrabbit 15:21, 16 August 2007 (CDT)
Sorry, because im old, I get my dates mixed up. I still find the punctuation and number of clicks odd, but I still think your reference is probably more correct, as kol seems to reference songs a lot more than games. (Well, current games) --Currman 13:32, 17 August 2007 (CDT)
Not References
- 'Ed-hotep' may be a reference to the film series The Mummy, whose main antagonist, a mummified Egyptian priest, was named Imhotep.
- 'Ed-hotep' may also be a reference to the movie Bubba Ho-tep.
Not really - Imhotep was real (along with several Pharoahs by the names of Mentuhotep and Amenhotep). --Quietust (t|c) 21:44, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

While I doubt that Ed gives anything for any level of MC/Annoy/Radio, it's something that should probably be tested. As such, I should mention that I just did Ed with MCD set to 11 and didn't get anything extra. Cookie3 15:18, 4 July 2007 (CDT)

Do you want "back" or "Go back"
When I defeated him I got
Back to the Ancient Buried Pyramid
Go back to the Ancient Buried Pyramid
Both in the style of an adventure again.--Whap 12:36, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
when i defeated ed for the last time it said "Back to the Ancient Buried Pyramid" as usual but then said "Go back to the Ancient Buried Pyramid" below it. Both lead to the same place. should this be noted on the page, I've been noticing similar things around the kingdom ever since NS13--CSDragon 20:23, 17 July 2007 (CDT)
This was mentioned during the 2007-08-13 radio show and Jick fixed it on air. He said something like it was added on the specific script for that fight and the general one for the zone. --Crowther 08:52, 24 August 2007 (CDT)

More Fun With HP
As a Sauceror with 144HP and 78,120,86 stats unbuffed 106, 176, 230 buffed
- First form took unknown damage to kill
- Second form took 252 damage to kill
- Third form took 134 damage to kill
- Fourth form took 88 damage to kill
- Fifth form took 35 damage to kill
- Sixth form took 17 damage to kill
- Seventh form took 16 damage to kill

Narrowing the HP range
I borrow some data from the above for this.
- First: 240-278
- Second: 256-282
- Third: 124-153
- Fourth: 62-90
- Fifth: 32-43 (lower limit confirmed through spicing)
- Sixth: 16-43 (lower limit confirmed through spicing)
- Seventh: ?-8-? (confirmed through spicing)
Note that I am referring to the absolute HP rather than the damage dealt.
Finally got the exact numbers using a non-combat familiar, no monster level boosters, and pinpointing with single wielding spices.--Foggy 10:24, 12 October 2007 (CDT)
Robogoose
If you have a robogoose as your familiar, it can drop a robotronic egg at the end of a fight against one of Ed's earlier forms, not just his final form.
- Sorry, forgot to sign my post before. My robogoose actually gave me 3 robotronic eggs during my fight(s) with Ed; I forgot to take a screengrab the first time, but here's proof of the second two: one, two.--Knobula 00:05, 21 April 2008 (CDT)
