Collected a few of its Crew/Crayon/Bubbles affecting hit/miss messages:

A powerful tentacle slices through the deck, a cannon, and midshipman Jeffy Des Moines in a blink of an eye! (Crew-1)

The squid loops a tentacle around the feet of cabin boy Henry Rich, dragging him into its ferocious beak. (Crew-1)

A tentacle whips across the deck, halving poor cabin boy Parker Raspberry before anyone can even shout "'ware the squid!" (Crew-1)

A tentacle erupts from the sea and lashes at a crewman, but is rebuffed by the layer of bubbles protecting the ship.(Neutral)

The squid loops a tentacle around a crewman's neck and squeezes until he is no more. (Crew-1)

A tentacle erupts from the sea and pulls a crewman into the depths before anyone can react!(Crew-1)

The squid yanks down a mast on top of first mate Short Meriadoc Titanium.(Crew-1)

The squid wraps a tentacle around a crewman's feet, then another around his head, then plays Christmas Crackers with him.(Crew-1)

Also, the squid seems to hit less often after you pick "Cover the Ship in Bubbles", which seems to last for the rest of the quest, but doesn't seem to work 100% of the time.

It got the jump on me at +319% initiative; I got the jump at +365%. It looks like the squid will steal a crewman even if you get the jump (6 out 6 times for me).--MogamboRanger 18:59, 12 January 2013 (CET)
