Talk:Fishy wand
Sorry, I just got it, so I'm testing it out. Drops when the wizardfish attacks you, sometimes.
Oxygen waves the wand and shouts, "aqua calefacto!" The water around your opponents boils, producing a delicious smell and 65(hot) damage. Oxygen waves the wand and shouts, "anvilius descendo!" A huge anvil crashes down on your opponents for 83 damage. Oxygen waves the wand and shouts, "aqua fulvurum!" The water around your opponents turns yellow. Ewwww, for 66(sleaze) damage. Oxygen waves the wand and shouts, "aqua frigio!" The water around your opponents freezes, chilling them for 61(cold) damage. Oxygen waves the wand and shouts, "arresto beatdownium!" Your opponents freeze in them tracks, unable to attack.(blocks attack)
That's all for now, folks!--Eniteris 20:34, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
The lines in the description about a hair and one other wand refer to how the wands that Harry and Voldemort have (feathers from the same phoenix, I think? Please, no Harry Potter fanboys/girls beat me down if I'm wrong), and that the donor animal donated it to *only* those two wands, so they share a special connection. --Jimfromtx 03:39, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
I get this message but no wand yet: One of the fish waves its wand at you, but the wand drops out of its fin. Wizard. . . muggle . . . I'm the guy with the thumbs.--Bitter Hawk 06:41, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Another spell: (Familiarname)waves the wand and shouts, "klepto!" a hand appears and snags some Meat from your opponents' pockets. You gain 100 Meat --Pamster 19:36, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
- I also got 100 meat on one activation. However, the meat effect seems to be very rare, and I didn't get a chance to further test whether it's always 100. --Prestige 09:29, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Do they do damage when this drops? or is it a miss message?--Coolness 21:20, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Hotstuff mentioned in the forums that the wand won't drop after the fourth round of combat. --TTBoyArDee 15:39, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yep. And it's on the wiki. --Flargen 15:50, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Fishy Wand Drops
I have put in at least 10 rounds with A School of Wizardfish (after talking to Granada about Wizardfish and avius ticklium. I have tries this three times for a total of about 25 encounters with the School of Wizardfish. The only drop (besides meat) has been a dull fish scale . I have used Pickpocket to no effect. As mentioned earlier I have had the following message; One of the fish waves its wand at you, but the wand drops out of its fin. Wizard. . . muggle . . . I'm the guy with the thumbs.
I think some more spading is required on the fishy wand drop. --Vigilamus 00:38, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
- First of all, only the first four rounds of combat are eligible for drops (confirmed by HotStuff). I'm guessing that the message you got means that the wand drop has been made ineligible, due to it literally dropping away from the fish, therefore the fish no longer has it so you can't steal it. This is probably bad RNG, and I think 3 tries is not enough. Farm more. -Shademaster00 21:32, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
In order to get the drop, you have to have talked to Grandpa about wizardfish and avius ticklium. It drops with the special move "One of the wizardfish swims directly above you, and you can see his vulnerable underbelly. Thinking back to what Grandpa told you, you shout "Avius ticklium!" A feather appears and tickles the fish vigorously until he drops his wand. You snag the wand for future use." If you don't get it in the first four rounds of combat, you won't get it at all. 25 encounters isn't much, some people have tried over 80 encounters with no success.--Ryo_Sangnoir 07:11, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Is it possible that you need to be hit by the wizardfishes in order that there is a possibility for the wand to drop? I think I encountered the school of wizardfish hundreds of times, and no drops... But I have pretty high moxies, with a DB. --Luos 14:10, 31 March 2009 (UTC) (Of course, I asked GrandPa about both wizardfish and avius ticklium, even more than once...)
I don't think being hit is required, but noodles, a blocking familiar, stunning or other things that prevent attacks probably interfere. Other than that it's +item% (maybe) and just RNG. --Fig bucket 15:08, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
- I tried fighting a whole bunch of them with furry gear on so I was getting hit a whole lot (and ensuring my plinking lasted at least 5 turns), and nothing. I finally got one dropping today, when I had over 1000 mox and they were getting nowhere near me. It dropped on the Fish's first action (straight after my rather pointless habitual pickpocket attempt). I was running a lot of +item but I doubt that was significant, since it's part of combat rather than killing the monster. Hippoking 23:54, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Actually, I'm pretty sure that you only need to talk to Grandpa about the wizardfish only to get the wand. I have not asked him about avius ticklium and received the wand. CronoTalon 18:24, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Getting the wand without asking
I seem to have gotten the Fishy Wand without having had to ask Grandpa first. Am I missing something here? --G flux (talk) 23:47, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
