Talk:Gnomish toolbox
I got 1 spring and 1 cog--Tornan Steel 03:32, 23 August 2006 (CDT)
Received the following from 8 toolboxes: 1 - spring and cog; 2 - 3 cogs; 3 - sproket and 2 cogs; 4 - cog and 2 sprockets; 5 - 2 cogs; 6 - 3 sprockets; 7 - spring, sprocket and cog; 8 - spring, sprocket and cog--Discordia 07:59, 23 August 2006 (CDT)
An addendum - they sometimes contain flanges, but not often. I opened 20 toolboxes and got just one. Presumably they contain clockwork keys as well, but I can't verify that.--Discordia 08:04, 23 August 2006 (CDT)
I used 20 toolboxes using the use multiple command and got: 16 springs, 17 sprockets, 15 cogs, 2 flanges, and 1 clockwork key.--Art 08:39, 23 August 2006 (CDT)
In the forum thread PCGamer did 50 boxes and got 40 springs, 41 sprockets, 42 cogs, and 6 flanges. --Crowther 10:32, 23 August 2006 (CDT)
Do the keys go towards the Gadget Inspector trophy? --Someone Else 10:21, 23 August 2006 (CDT)
Another sample of 21 toolboxes yielded: 15 springs, 15 sprockets, 20 cogs, 1 flange, and 1 clockwork key. --Art 11:40, 25 August 2006 (CDT)
Clockwork keys from toolboxes don't appear to count toward Gadget Inspector trophy. --Art 11:40, 25 August 2006 (CDT)
I opened 72 toolboxes at once and got: 65 springs 64 sprockets 47 cogs 2 flanges 2 keys
I then added my data to Art's two data sets here, and computed the percentages for each that are now shown on the main page. Will need a lot more data to nail down the flange and key numbers, but the other three percentages seem fairly accurate. --Greg1104 19:06, 6 September 2006 (CDT)
And here's another 23 worth: 23 springs, 21 sprockets, 13 cogs, flange, clockwork key. --Greg1104 02:29, 12 September 2006 (CDT)
And 25 more: 19 springs, 25 sprockets, 21 cogs, 2 flanges, 1 clockwork key.--Greg1104 13:38, 14 October 2006 (CDT)
I'm almost positive the figures on the page are wrong, based on the mall price. At the time of writing, flanges have a mall price of just under 800, clockwork keys are just under 20,000, and gnomish toolboxes are about 2300. If the page figures are accurate, then people are paying way too much for these things. It's much more likely that these figures are wrong. If you look at other container items of this type, you'll see that the price of the container tracks the average value of the expected returns almost precisely in just about all cases.--YellFeat 20:36, 19 February 2012 (CET)
"You will receive 2-3 items from each toolbox."
Is this an average, or an absolute limit? Given the % of each drop rate, this is about what you'd expect to see; is it actually capped at 3 items?
